i'm taking a 10 hour bus trip with my 8 month old. does pre-packaged single serving baby food exist?

my husband and i are going from ontario, canada to philadelphia, pennsylvania on a bus with our 8 month old daughter for a 3 day vacation (because my husband is insane). she has started solids (baby food) but is still in the one-food-at-a-time stage to make sure she has no food intolerances. she's done cereal and is partway through veggies with fruit to follow.

my issue is that we will be staying in a hotel and will not have a fridge to keep open baby food jars cold so they don't go off. my baby is only eating about 1-2 tablespoons of food at lunch and again at supper (i'm still breastfeeding on demand as well). one jar typically lasts 3 days (opened monday, finished wednesday).

does anyone know of any baby food (veggies or fruit) that comes in smaller size packages than the jars that hold 128ml (4.5oz)? i'm obviously not going to risk giving baby food that hasn't been properly kept but i'd rather not waste 3/4 of a jar every day.

in my local store, all the jars are the same size. if you know of a brand that has smaller sizes, please tell me the name and maybe even where you saw it if you can.
chris: i really hope you don't have children. i happen to have a very calm and frankly, complacent child. she doesn't cry very much at all (not even every day necessarily and even then not for long), sleeps through the night and is generally pretty happy. she has been on several long car trips and as long as she's not hungry or wet (easily rectified in both cases), she just plays with a toy or sleeps.

How about bringing a cooler or insulated lunch bag with freezer packs for the bus, and assuming you're staying at a hotel you can use the ice vending machine upon arrival.

How to keep food cool on a roadtrip for a few hours..?

Going to Canada for the weekend and i'm on a "clean" diet so I made all my meals and whatnot ahead of time, only deal is we're leaving ~8 am and not going to check into the hotel til around 1 or 2 pm. How long could food stay cold in a cooler with a bag of ice, it souds dumb but would i have to replace the ice and drain the water halfway there or would one or two initial bags of ice be fine?

really if your worried for 5-6 hours, you wont need much... take any normal insulated cooler even a lunch box... freeze some water bottles or bring ice packs... keep it out of the sun while in the vehicle if possible... if not good enough... i had taken a camping trip in late june and kept a cooler for when we got back to our vehicle so we would have cold drinks... we were away from the vehicle for 6 days and we had a ccrappyold cooler... filled with ice and also wrapped with old sleeping bags... we had some days 80 degrees... but when we came back... we had alot of ice left and very cold drinks... i wouldn'tworry to much... just keep it generally cool

How do you bring lunch in high school?

I'm a freshman in ontario, canada. school starts tomorrow. i've only been attending a private school my whole life but i'm going to a public high school so i don't know what the differences are. for lunch, up until now, EVERYONE carried this lunch bag at my privaet school:

which their parents packed.. now i'm going to a public high school so i have no idea how the other kids pack.

so MY QUESTION: how do kids pack their lunches in canadian PUBLIC high schools? like in a plastic bag, a brown paper bag, or just the insulated bags i showed you?? or do most kids just buy their lunches from the school cafeteria? how do kids eat on the first day of high school??
so would it be okay to bring a lunch bag like above or would people think i'm a little kid or something?

Well, at my school, most kids buy...but of the few that do pack (that I've noticed), they use plastic bags and just throw them away when done.
