Help!? Ideas for a packed lunch?

.:Emerald:

Hi!
I finally got accepted to a modeling agency and am about to take classes! (YAY!)
The lady there told me to bring lunch as it is a 5 hour class... I need good ideas for a packed lunch!
Nothing too hard to prepare, needs to stay fresh, easy to make or find, and not too big or small.
Thank you so much!

Answer
Packing a lunch for school and/or work can be a challenge. Often times you donât have access to a microwave or refrigeration. Eating the same thing every day can get old after a short time as well. My suggestions for lunch are listed below. Consider taking an insulated lunch bag to keep some of these things cold until itâs time to eat. You could also freeze your beverage (water, juice, etc) and use it as an ice pack if you donât have a lunch box.

Wraps, salads, and sandwiches are good for the âentrée courseâ of your lunch. Use different deli meats and cheeses every week so you donât tire of the same flavors. Itâs good to make homemade dressings or switch up the condiments on these items as well. Use as many fresh ingredients as possible to increase the nutritional value as well. Another idea would be to cook chicken breasts, fish, and pork tenderloins in large amounts over the weekend and keep the cooked meat in the fridge or freezer as an addition to your sandwiches, wraps, or salads. Itâs a nice change to deli meat. My family also enjoys chicken, tuna, or ham salad sandwiches every so often. And you can never go wrong with peanut butter and jelly!

As the âside dishesâ for your lunch, I would suggest any of the items listed below.
fruit, yogurt, pudding, or jello cups
fresh vegetables with ranch dressing
granola bars
popcorn
trail mix
chips (take salsa or a cheese dip for tortilla chips)
pretzels
100 calorie snack packs (cookies, brownie bites, etc)
special K cracker chips
dry cereal
fresh fruit (like apples/bananas with peanut butter, orange slices, grapes, etc)
tasty cakes (Little Debbie brand)
bologna and cheese cubes
broccoli, macaroni, pasta, or potato salad
crackers (goldfish, animal crackers, cheese or peanut butter filled sandwich crackers)
dried fruit (raisins, craisins, banana/apricot/apple chips)
deviled or pickled eggs
cheese curls or cheese balls
fun sized candy bars
mixed nuts
gummy candy
marshmallows

Do you carry around more than one purse/bag?

Do you carry around more than one purse/bag?
Someone tells me that lately he sees women in the city carrying two or three purses at once.

Answer
I see it in Toronto all the time -mostly the ladies getting out of the commuter trains. when I head to Toronto I have two bags, one large one with my portfolio and papers and lunch and more and one smaller one. I can usually leave the larger one at the studio or office or -in a pinch -in a locker at the school and carry my wallet, phone and keys in a smaller purse.

Vera Bradley Bag For School? Easy Ten Points?

liz

HellO! im looking at vera bradley tote bags for this school year. Im going to be a freshman in highschool, and i was wondering what type of bag do you think is best for carrying all my binders and books and such around ( obviously not all at once, lol (: ) so, i was looking at the vera bradley "vera" bag, do you think this is large enough? ive only bought one thing from vera bradley, and its just a tiny tiny purse for only like your phone haha. any color suggestions would be great too! thankyou!

Answer
I just got the vera for school and it is huge it will carry alot! I love it though, it is definately a great bag for school!! If you are not going to carry many textbooks the tote might be good for you, but I personally like to have extra room for things like a waterbottle and lunch if I need it so I would go with the vera!!
I actually recieved the tote as a gift for my graduation to use for school next year but when people started telling me it was too small I took it back to the vera bradley store and the ladies working there said most people get the vera or the pleated tote, but I personally liked the vera. They said the tote is good if you know that you will only have like one textbook at a time, but the vera can hold like 3 plus other books, so I would definately go with the vera! :)

Hope that helped :)

What do you think these people do on their lunch hour?

Lynn

In the office where I work (it is a large, national company) every so often the branch manager and one of the ladies working there go out to lunch together. They spend about one hour and a half. When they return, the lady does not act or look the same as when she left. She acts kind of crazy, is disshelved, and is sweaty looking. Maybe I am naive, but in today's culture I wouldn't know if they are doing drugs or something else. They always bring back what looks like leftover food in plastic bags. I feel affected by this since I have to work there unless I look for another job. Could I please have your take on this? Thank you!!!

Answer
I bet they are smoking cigarettes outside. The wind and weather is making her look dissheveled. Ask if you can go to lunch with them. If they say no, your suspicions were correct. If yes, you will learn the truth./

London ladies - how many bags do you commute with on the tube?

What's your solution to the problem of having to deal with gym kit, paperwork, makeup etc?

Especially when running shoes seem to have gargantuan soles.

I run around with three bags (gym bag, rucksack, plus handbag). Have been looking for a tote to deal with paperwork, which might accommodate personal stuff too, but the proportions always seem wrong in the ones I can find... (straps too long/short; pockets too deep/not in the right place...)

Answer
I carry two big bags. My handbag is a big satchel type and it holds everything from make-up to books and paperwork. Then I have a large tote that can hold gym clothes and shoes and my lunch. It's a hassle and it's been hard finding the perfect bags but I finally have a system that works. I also keep a small handbag at work that I can use when I go out to lunch and don't want to carry the big bag I use on the train. I've seen ladies with up to four bags though.

I know the temperatures in Iraq can reach well into the 100's F. What is safe to send and will not melt.

Answer
Bless your heart for supporting our troops! When my son was in Iraq I use to send care packages all the time, and it actually was a lot of fun and a challenge to see how much I could get into a Flat Rate box and still be able to close the top!

Here are some items that I sent and some that they suggested on the Marine Parents website based on the troops feedback:

Gum, Lifesavers, Mints (blister pack gum is best because of the intense heat)
Fruit: individual serving size cans of fruit, dried fruit
(Note: Plastic fruit cups with the plastic seal are not recommended as they can open in transit; individual-size cans are preferred.)
Nuts, sunflower seeds, peanuts, trail mix
Power bars, protein bars, nutritional bars
Beef jerky, beef summer sausage (non-perishable; labeled USDA Beef)
Single-serving bags of snacks, crackers, chips, snack mixes
Pop Tarts, cereal bars, "milk & cereal" bars, granola bars
Ramen Noodles, Cup-O-Noodles serving cups
Ravioli and other canned ready-to-eat meals (canned or styrofoam single serving are best)
Tuna lunch kits (includes foil pouch of tuna, crackers, and condiments in each single-serving kit)
Canned sardines, smoked oysters
Torengos® nacho-style chips and canned nacho cheese dip
Jalepeno Velveeta® and crackers
Taco Bell® Sauce Packets
Seasoning salts, flavoring salts

Coffee, coffee mixes, tea
Hot cocoa mix
Lemonade mix, Koolade mix, Tang, Iced Tea mix
Gatorade mix (powdered only)
Crystal Light (or other brand) "On The Go" flavor packets
(these come in a box of several sleeves of flavoring that can be added to a 16-20 oz. water bottle)
Sugar and creamer packets for coffee

Not to mention many other requested items:

AA Batteries
Disposable cameras
White cotton socks (they would use a pair for several days to a week, and then toss them out!)
T-shirts
Deck of cards
Hand held games
Music CD's
Notebooks
Envelopes/Paper
Pens
Small inflatable travel pillows
(I know some moms that crammed a regular pillow into their care packages for their sons! I sent a small one to my son since they did not issue them to his unit while he was over there and they totally appreciate them!

The list can be endless! Just make sure that you don't send things like chocolate candy or fudge because of the extreme heat. One time I sent my son an Easter care package and even put a chocolate rabbit in it and several other bags of chocolate that my son loved, and he said most of it melted into one large chunk and the bunny totally looked deformed! I think I still sent some cookies/homebaked items but wrapped them carefully in several layers and then in a plastic container. Some ladies I know even freeze them before they send any cookies. My son wanted homemade cookies the most. :)

How do I appeal a violation notice on this new and "improved" site?

Question: What do you think these people do on their lunch hour?

Question Details: In the office where I work (it is a large, national company) every so often the branch manager and one of the ladies working there go out to lunch together. I feel affected by this since I have to work there unless I look for another job. Could I please have your take on this? Thank you!!!

Deleted Answer: Why do you feel affected? Is job performance affected? Does it put any additional work load on you? What they do in their spare time is their business. Don't worry about it.

I clearly answered with :it's none of your businesss, don't worry about it. There were no instructions in the email on how to appeal. Can't just hit the "reply" button either.

Answer
Yahoo, in a never-ending effort to make it harder for us to appeal wrongful notices of violation, now makes you have to find the appeal form on your own. You can find the form here:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/answers/first_appeal.html

You're right, the asker wanted "your take on this" and that implies a subjective analysis of the situation, which you gave. It's not like asking "What is the capitol of Kansas?" where there's only one correct answer "Topeka." You're entitled and expected to give your personal opinion.

Do appeal. Maybe if enough of us appeal these frivolous notices of appeal, they'll improve the system some day!!
