How to get stains out of lunch bags?

lunch bags for work on lunch bag
lunch bags for work image

Irene Chen

I have a Vera Bradley lunch bag and i got a huge stain on the inside (from yogurt) and it wont go away! ive tried soaking it in water, and hand and machine washing it. I've heard vinager might work but i dont want to damage the cloth pattern. Any ideas?

Answer
Maybe you can wash the bag in your washer? I wash my bookbag in the washer and it works fine. I hang it to air dry, not machine drying. If your lunch bag is made of clothe or nylon you likely could wash it right in your washer and that would get rid of the yagurt.

Where can you buy an insulated lunch bag?

Nikki

Does anyone know of any stores in Toronto that would carry lunch bags or the names of companies that make them? Thanks!

Answer
you can get one every where, in terms of which ones are better, keep in mind that you get what you pay for, but more importantly if you want to keep your lunch cold then freeze your juice boxes, or get a ice pack. this will keep your lunch colder longer.
For places to go try:
Shoppers drug mart
Loblaws
Pharma Plus
Wallmart
Zellers
Sears
Bay
Dominion
Good luck and shop around its your money and well spend it well instead of wishing you had a different one or spending it over and over.

How to explain what a douche bag is?

lunch bags for work women on Armani Jeans Handbag Women's Diamond Shoulder Tote Bag
lunch bags for work women image

LucyBones

OK, at lunch in school, my friend called some dude a douchebag. Our very clean minded, very new to dirty slang friend asked her, with her head cocked like a cat, "What's that?" My friend started freaking out, not knowing how to explain this. Long story short, she just told our guy friend to explain, but he didn't know either. I have a sore throat, so i couldn't explain XD someone explain for my friend?

Answer
A douche is something that people DO actually use. They're just not a common thing anymore.

A douche is a bottle with a small nozzle on the end - the nozzle is inserted into the vagina, the bottle is squeezed and the liquid goes into the vagina to help clean it. Not a whole lot of women use them, if you're hygienic they aren't too necessary.

Very smart of your friend to ask. People love throwing around insults while having no idea what they actually mean.

What does it take to open your own small business?

dollye k

I want to open a resale shop specifically geared towards pregnant women and young children. I would sell gently used maternity clothes, baby clothes, and baby gear. Are there any tips, books, or websites that are especially helpful?

Answer
I'd suggest talking to other small businesses in the area you are thinking of locating. You can probably find some easily who would be willing to take a lunch with you. Ask them about the process they went through to get ready for business, what foot traffic in the area is like, what their biggest surprises were their first few years. Pick their brains a little you never know what good info you can get from people that are in your impact area, plus this allows you to start networking , meaning if they know you they may send business your way.

Look at your expenses and make sure you have everything covered. What is your estimated income for the store? What will you be able to do if you're running under plan? How can you ensure a steady supply of product? Look at the store next time you go grocery shopping and ask yourself how they get things stocked, inventoried, rang, bagged etc and have answers for how that will look in your store.

What are some ways for me to look even better ?

pretty lunch bags for women on Pretty Ways to Wear Emerald Green Beauty Products ...
pretty lunch bags for women image

I am a pretty beautiful girl , not conceded . But i have a few perks here and there
Well how can I get rid of my bags ?
How can I loose weight faster ?
And what are some good face wash I can use ? (No proactive please ?!)

Answer
everyone has a few imperfection's here and there so it's natural, but you can change it as you wish.
For the bags under your eyes, you can use concealer after you woke up; that can hide the lines under your eyes. Or buy a really good moisturizing lotion that is able to keep the moisture in your skin at night.
Loosing weight for women is always the hardest. Trust me I know.
For starting you want to change your diet into something healthy, like veggies, fruits, water (lots it can help your skin as well). STAY AWAY FROM soda, fried food (french fries, chicken), fast food, and beans/rice. When eating something that's meat or seafood its always better to eat it baked, instead of grilled.
Exercise is the important key in loosing weight as well.
Try to workout 3 times a week and then step it up more. like you could do 5 times or increase your hours on how long you workout.
Running and Jogging are very helpful, but they don't loose weight fast it takes time. So to lose weight faster the best options is this:
Stretch in the morning (take a look at yoga positions on YouTube.com)
In the afternoon, after having lunch and resting; go for a jog or a run (even a walk, something that keeps you active)
This you can do any time of the day. Workouts like crunches, jumping jacks, Jumping rope, Yoga, leg curls
Good face wash: anything for ST. IVES

How to Avoid attention in public places?

Chino

I'm traveling to another country next Christmas and I need tips on how to blend with Society, Im gonna be in public for several days buying stuff for my wife. I've heard stories of Americans getting robbed and killed.. any help would be nice

Answer
Wear conservative, not casual clothes. Your shoes should be ordinary leather ones, never athletic sneakers. Have a dumb-looking satchel or tote bag, not a fanny pack or a designer bag. If you want to carry a camera, keep it in a zipper pocket rather than around your neck, and keep track of it. Leave your good watch and all rings except a wedding band at home.

Get one of those passport holders that you wear around your neck, under your clothing. Use it for your passport, the majority of your money, and all but one of your credit cards. You should be safe enough during daylight hours in the main commercial areas of the town. A plastic shopping bag with a local store logo will help you blend in a bit. (I once met a young woman who traveled a lot. Her hobby was collecting plastic shopping bags from all over, and then using them up one by one to carry her lunches and miscellaneous stuff.) Try to keep all your bulky purchases together in one bag. You won't look like a native, but you'll look like you know what you're doing, anyway.

If English is not the native language, don't lose hope. Many people have studied some English. Speak slowly and clearly, with simple sentences and a basic vocabulary. You can often communicate by dictionary, pictionary, and pantomime, especially if you carry a notebook and pencil.

Get on http://www.google.com/advanced_search and look up the country where you'll be going, plus "etiquette" and "customs" and "travel tips" and "places" and so forth. If it's a country with an iffy reputation, such as some countries in the middle east, the communist countries, and parts of Mexico, look up the American embassy there for any late-breaking news that affects visitors to the country.

A few "different" customs I've heard about:

â Singapore: It's highly illegal to chew gum and throw it away on the pavement. You can't even purchase chewing gum there. In general their laws are pretty strict.

â Japan: Make sure all your socks are in good shape, and bring along nice loafers rather than tie-up shoes. You'll be taking your shoes on and off a lot. Even in public stores and offices, you can walk in wearing your shoes, but if you step onto a carpeted area, you'll be expected to take them off. If you don't like the idea of sharing slippers from a pile made available for visitors, bring your own, but make sure they're real slippers, with smooth soles. Most transactions are done with cash. In large department stores and downtown areas, there'll be a few ATMs that can access bank accounts in the United States. You can cash travelers' checks at banks and stores, but it can be a tedious process. When it comes to Japanese toilet facilities, forewarned is forearmed. Look up information about them on the Internet!

â Finland: A sauna is a relaxing experience, but you do have to take off all your clothes. Bring a folded towel to lie or sit on. The lower tiers are cooler. The higher ones are more for Finnish people who are used to taking saunas. Fifteen minutes in there is probably enough for neophytes.

Remember the airline rule about liquids, gels, and creamy stuff â 3.4 ounce containers, max (about 100 milliliters). You can't take more of them than will all fit inside one quart-size zip-top baggie. (Bring two or three baggies in case one breaks.) There are special rules about aerosols. Look up the Transportation Safety Authority site for complete current information.

So, do your research, and have a good time!

Traveling the Americas for 3 months, advice needed?

insulated lunch bags made in america on Large Insulated Lunch Bag
insulated lunch bags made in america image

Curious Ca

The destinations/sights that made my list are *drumroll* .... Hawaii, San Fancisco, Nevada(burning man & maybe Vegas), the Grand Canyon, Mexico(Cancun & Isla Holebox), Bahamas, Brazil(Rio), Argentina & Peru.

Two weeks in Hawaii.
A week in California
A week @ Burning man/Nevada
A week for the Grand Canyon & Cancun
A week on Isla Holebox
A week sailing the Carribean
Two days for the Bahamas
A month in Brazil
The rest in Peru & Argentina

I'm traveling with companion, we don't mind roughing it as long as we stay in a few nicer hotels here & there. We're both vegetarians & not big eaters(two meals a day, mostly fruit & the sort). We don't drink either, so we'll be missing those pricey bar tabs. We love a good party though, we're always ready when adventure calls, just two travelers looking for friends, a wild time & those more magical moments that travel throws at you.

How much are we looking at spending overall? Any advice & tips are greatly appreciated! Thanks! ;D

P.S I as I am typing this I am gently rocking on a hammock next to the lapping of the pristine water on Phi Phi Island in Thailand, great, cheap place to travel with chill vibes & great locals. Great destination for first time solo travelers.

Answer
You are SO lucky you get to travel so much all at one time!

1. How many days exactly do you have in both Peru & Argentina. Looks like you don't even have a week for both countries. Definitely not enough time for both (maybe not even one).

2. There are A LOT of interesting things to see near the Grand Canyon, some that I personally like more than the GC. Google Zion, Upper Antelope Canyon, The Wave (though you'd have to win a permit for that), Bryce for starters. FYI, I took some people there that said why go to those other canyons - we're already going to the "grand" canyon - after all decided they were totally different and must sees. Can go to Death Valley too if you hit Vegas. If you hit all the sites I have on this list, you'd have to spend a week at the Grand Canyon area . Make sure you go during the right time of year for some of these places though.

3. Are you going to Holebox to see the whale sharks? Cause if not, I'd recommend it and make sure you go during the right season.

4. Are you never coming back to the Americas again? Just wondering cause your destinations look so spread out. If you were planning to come back some other time, you might pick locations that were closer together to save money. Like just do South America on your first trip and then North on your second (and pair central america with whichever makes sense). Chile is really cool. Bolivia has the largest salt flat in the world though you better make sure you go with a safe tour company for that. Belize in Central america is fantastic - I like it way more than mexico though I'd pick Mexico if your primary reason is for whale sharks (you can swim with whale sharks at right time of year too in Belize, but odds aren't as good as in mexico though mexico doesn't allow diving with the WS).

5. Tripadvisor.com forum - excellent source of info - much better than answers.com for traveling

6. Peru - Assume you would go to Machu Picchu. I assume you'll hit the amazon in Brazil. There's other things there too like Lake Titicaca, salineras de maras, huacachina oasis, manu, iquitos, nazca linesjust to name some but I don't think you have time for any of them.

7. It's really hard to calculate travel costs cause it can vary so greatly depending on your mode of transportation, activities, and if you go camping or not. i.e. camping is around $15 a night at Grand Canyon I think and most other places in US. While hotels can easily cost $100 a night or more (costs for hotels vary substantially in all the different places you are going to as well). When I travel activities and transportation (not the flights but ground or inter-country flights) make up the bulk of my costs. You really should calculate things out yourself in detail if you are on a budget. Any quote here would be extremely rough.

8. Make reservations in advance if you are planning to stay the night inside the park (which you should do).

9. travel light, I love keens in tropical countries, dress in layers if your going during a time when some parts are cold and some hot, I carry hand sanitizer in natural areas, love quick dry clothes and shorts/pants convertible pants. Seasick patch/pills were essential on my whale shark tour in Belize - don't know if its the same in Holebox. An insulated lunch bag was nice while on road trips. Flashlight is nice at GC if you stay the night (which you should to see sunset).

10. Free airline miles by getting a new credit card can save you money on flights if you play the game right (though don't know if that is true for where you are from).

11. If you camp (which a great option) , make sure you bring a very lightweight tent and sleeping bag since you are going so many places and that you aren't going when the weather is too cold. You can easily just eat at cheap restaurants all the time while camping so no need to bring cooking gear. If you had more people, I'd say a cheap hotel that allowed you to cook for yourselves would be almost the same cost as camping - but I don't think that is true for just two people. FYI, the bathrooms at many of the US national park campsites are actually really clean in case you are like me and can't stand dirty bathrooms. Some aren't though so if you are picky about that, go to tripadvisor.com and ask.

12. Yellowstone, Banff, New York,Chicago, Florida, Niagra Falls - lots of things you won't get to see on your trip in the Americas so I say come back again some other time if you have time.

How can I become a different person?

lunch bags for teenage girls on lunch bag
lunch bags for teenage girls image

Tad

I'm 16 and I've never spent more than a year at any one school. As a result, I almost never had any friends. I was once out going, but after an incident where I ended up reciting the wrong poem in front of my 2nd grade class, I became shy. After second grade, I didn't try to make friends when I moved to different schools. I cared about my image though, I tried to be kind and show no emotion. I bottled up what I felt so that people wouldn't judge me harshly. I wasn't social, I made no friends. I had no friends. I was starved for some form of friendship, or affection, so I became deeply religious. I used religion to give me the thing I lacked, a friend.

I'm now at school wherein I am in all six of my classes with the same nine people (more or less). I was deeply religious when I came to the school. Though I didn't want to originally, I made two friends. My friends were careful around me. They were careful not to cuss or talk about the inappropriate topics that most teenage boys are constantly thinking about (one of my friends is a girl and the other is a boy).

They knew I didn't like it when people cussed or talked about the inappropriate things. My friend that is a girl once told her friend to stop talking about the things and cussing because she didn't "want to corrupt [my] innocence". My friend that is a boy told his friend once to stop cussing saying "we have a Tad here." Although I don't like cussing or inappropriate things, I didn't like that my friends did this.

Eventually, both of my friends became distant. I found that my friends stopped talking to me in classes. I had always sat alone at lunch and in our school's dismissal area, but being ignored in class, the one place they talked to me was too much for me. I felt that I lost them both. What was worse is I had lost them to each other (they didn't start dating, they both were seeing other people, but they merely became closer friends).

Both of my friends insulted religions in my English class one day. I took offense and tried to stop being friends with them. The boy told me "I don't hate you, I just hate everything you believe in." I was hurt badly by this and began to look at my religion more.I eventually left my religion due to many things I disagreed with in the doctrine. When I didn't have friends, I never questioned the doctrine because I didn't want to lose my source of comfort. Now that I had friends, I no longer needed the religion. I left my church (the Mormon Church and no it is not a cult {though it is wrong}). I still vowed to live by the church's moral code (no swearing, no talking about inappropriate things, no drinking alcoholic beverages, no drinking coffee, and no drinking tea {I know this tea one doesn't make sense now that I'm not part of the church}).

After I left, I was still unhappy they insulted my beliefs. I didn't know how to handle friends so I gave them the silent treatment. The boy apologized quickly and instantly forgave him. The girl refused to apologize, she told me I had to apologize for ignoring her. I did. I baked them both apology cookies and brought bags of apology chocolate.

After the almost official loss of our friendship, things went back to normal. My friends continued to ignore me, and I pretended I liked being alone. The truth was that I didn't want to force my friends to do anything. I didn't to force them to accept me at lunch or in the dismissal area. They both ignored me and after five months, I tried again to end my friendships. I was going to end them both on the same day, but the girl broke up with her boyfriend that day, so I only tried to end my friendship with the boy.

The girl became distant, I think that friendship is gone.

He didn't allow me to end my friendship with him. He was kind about it. He dragged (not literally) his girlfriend away from their normal lunch table to sit with me one day. The day after, he just had me move to his normal lunch table. He told me to sit there every day saying that I was part of that social group now.

Feeling like I belonged somewhere made that the happiest day of my life (that was last Tuesday). I was talking to him earlier today. He was talking about how he still has feelings for this other girl and he might have to choose between the girl (who he asked out before, but she refused saying she doesn't want to be committed to anyone) and his girlfriend. He said he can be himself around the other girl, but not his girlfriend. Hearing him say that made me remember how he tried to be calm, not cuss, and not talk about inappropriate stuff around me. I felt guilty.

I want to change myself. I want to be louder, rowdier, and have my friend like me more. My English teacher told me eight days ago that she thinks of me as the model student. I want to change that so my friend can feel like he can be himself around me.
Well I can honestly say I didn't expect a lecture of not understanding my own theology for this question. The way I worded it may be confusing, my friends are NOT the reason I left my church. You people angrily telling me how foolish I am is UN-CHRIST LIKE. You do not understand your theology. Rather than lecture me about what my theology, you all need to go back and study your theology.
I really don't like all you religious bigots who came to my question. Most of you are doing nothing but pushing me farther away as I see how horrible the people in the religious community are.

Answer
Hey,

It sounds like you have a lot to say; I do too! My favorite place online is called www.faithology.com/community/. You can go there to talk to people with all types of beliefs, not people who will criticize you for having a lot on your mind!

I love it there and I would encourage you to go start a conversation with some people there.

Good luck!!!

I have an Etsy store, and i want to make some things that are fun and cute for babies, but also practical too. I don't know about you, but I'm frustrated that things I see that are so cute, cost so much! (For example, I like the JJcole Pacifier pods, but $7.99, are you kidding me? Hmm, a cute pacifier pod, or a small bag of diapers?) (Yes, I know there are knock-offs, but they style isn't the same!) I also liked all the cute burp cloths you can buy, but after wasting money on some, I found that cloth diapers are the best at cleaning up spit-up and other messes. But they are so plain! I have a couple of other ideas for things to make too- but I was wondering, is there anything you would LOVE to buy for your baby, but it's either too expensive, or hard to find in the market? Would you be willing to give me an idea on something new to try? Also, if you could give me some prices, that would really be helpful! (For example, you saw a cute XX but it was $29.99, but if it was $6.99 you would be more interested..etc.) Thanks so much!! :)

Answer
I have a daughter and I love baby headbands but I either have a hard time finding them or they are like $10 each! For a headband! I think that would be something cool to have. Also...I don't know how difficult it would be to make but I looked everywhere for an insulated lunch type bag for my daughters bottles that wasn't really bulky. I finally found one but it was still like $20 on sale. I don't want a huge bag like my husband would take his lunch to work in...just something small to carry her bottles in. And I agree with the other answer about the cart cover. I have a cheap on but its plain and its really thin. I cant find the padded ones anywhere and I can imagine the price if I did...yikes!

How much do you think is appropriate to spend on Christmas presents amongst women friends?

Dani B

We have a group of 6 friends...all women & we are planning to do a Christmas gift exchange.
What do you think is the appropriate amount to spend?
I think that $50 is more than sufficient with the current economy & all.
Some people want to spend $100 - but I think this is too much as one of our group has young children & another has been laid off.
Am I being cheap????

Answer
I think $10 is fine. That's enough for a humorous cat book or some spring bulbs or packages of seeds or a small plant or clever bookmarks or cloth grocery bags (or the $1 ones from Trader Joe's that I gave one year) or some kind of ornament, like the one I got made in a Third World country with shiny magazine pages folded up & glued to an ornament or a necklace (like the $1 one I bought) or cat statue ($5) from flea market or thrift shop...You get the idea...something fun that says you care, but also something that's well, cheap. It's truly the thought that counts. Sometimes it really would be easier to spend more, but what for?

Here's another idea: Get a mug from a thrift store--I like the clear glass ones--& fill it with homemade cookies & tie it with a pretty ribbon. Or bake mini-loaves of bread or whatever, just enough for a single gal to slice & enjoy for a couple of days during the holidays.

Or how about a bottle of sparkling juice or flavored water in one of those bottle-sized gift bags, just in time for the New Year. Lots of us, as we get older, are happy if it's not wine or something with alcohol. It may be more welcome as a party gift if it's not, especially with all the crack-downs on drunken driving.

Again, what's that $50-$100 idea? We just never did that. Better to use it on family or 5 toys for needy kids or other charity donation or food for ourselves or just about anything. As you say, it's ridiculous to spend so much in this economy, & you certainly don't want people to feel indebted to spend this much just to maintain the friendship. Better to spend $20 per person & enjoy a special lunch together or pool your money to buy treats for coffee & brunch at someone's house.

Now that I think about it, why not forget the whole gift thing & host a brunch. Find out what a local women's shelter could use: new socks, kids' books, just little gifts, or whatever, & have each person bring that item instead of having an expensive gift exchange. Be the leader & get several friends to agree on that idea, & then you're on to it.

Alternatively, you could host a cookie exchange or a paperback book exchange, or whatever. Let your interests be your guide.

Enjoy!

How many cans of green beans, how many potatoes?

Brenda

My in laws and husband's brothers are coming over this weekend. I am fixing a 19 lb spiral ham (it was cheaper to get it that size) and green bean casserole with mashed potatoes. I bought 5-6 large baking potatoes so it totaled 6 lbs. For 8 total people ( his brothers are only 13 and 10 and don't eat much) how many lbs of potatoes should I make and how many cans of green beans and cream of mushroom do I need?

Answer
Rule #1 about cooking for groups - always cook too much. If you don't have enough food and folks are still hungry, they will be a little grumpy. If they eat till their stuffed and you have leftovers, they'll be happy.

Figure one large baked potato per person - about a half-pound each, including kids age 10 and up. Trust me - a 10 year old boy eats MORE than most adult women. A 13 year old boy might eat more than a lot of adult men.

For Green Bean Cassorole, figure on 1 can of beans per two people, one can of cr. mushroom per 2 or 3 cans of beans. Don't forget the Frenched Onions on top, you need a big #10 can of those, you can always snack on the extras.

Either make the baked potatoes rich (by adding butter and sour-cream or cream), or make a white-roux gravy. White-roux gravy is made for 8 people by melting about 4 sticks of butter (1lb) in a large saucepan. Stir in one cup of unbleached flour and stir until it just starts to turn brown. Whisk in 4 cans of chicken-broth to make about 6 cups of gravy. My family personally prefers rich potatoes, but gravy is more traditional.

I'd also make a pan of cornbread to go with that, and a platter of crudites. But my family eats big so we need a lot of food, not a single man is under 6'3" and my wife's family is almost as large. 19lb of ham is more than plenty - and a brilliant way to save money with leftovers. Spiral ham sandwiches are a great bag lunch for work.

What should I wear to this PhD open day and interview?

small lunch bags for women on ... an Empty Paper Bag For Groceries Or Cold Lunch by PlatyPlus Art #31632
small lunch bags for women image

M M

It's an open day involving some introductory talks, an "informal" lunch with current students and staff, a tour of the labs and then a "formal interview".

The range of different things going on is giving me difficulties in choosing what to wear...

It's in the genetics section of a hospital.

Answer
Depending on your gender, of course....but I'd say regardless - formal wear.
You can be 'mildly informal' and wear plain black trousers and a blouse/shirt/sweater, rather than wearing a two-piece suit. Don't wear a tie if you feel that this is too formal, but make sure the shirt or blouse looks neat. If you do want to wear a tie, you should go with solid colours rather than an elaborate design. Have either a blouse or a well-pressed shirt, and if you want, a blazer or suit jacket. If it's cold, wear a neutral-coloured sweater. White shirts look clean, but may make you look like a waiter! Try a pinstripe or coloured shirt instead. Black is also flattering, but beware if you have animals, as you'll be picking off light coloured hairs forever.
Polished shoes or boots are okay - but make them plain. No trainers. Black socks, preferably long ones, are useful if you have a tendency to cross your legs when seated.
The overall idea is that you're presenting a neat and tidy packaged personality, so avoid carrying excess bags (handbags, etc) - use one case or messenger bag for the day. If you have to carry a purse, make it a small and unobtrusive one.
Take a coat if needed for over your blazer or jacket, but not something that's 'high fashion'. If you choose to wear earrings, go for the 'less is more' approach. If you have piercings, you may opt to take them out or replace larger pieces for less obtrusive studs. Large necklaces might also be difficult in lab situations, so avoid anything too dangly. Hair is also a strong point - for lab work you'll need to tie up or tie back long hair, so make sure that if this is the case you can carry some spare hair bobbles or clips with you on the day.
Try not to use strong perfumes or deodorants - it's something I've found people forget about and then tend to overdo because they worry they'll sweat. The result is one very over-perfumed student! In a lab or close environment this isn't quite as pleasant. Use a neutral antiperspirant and mild deodorant if you feel this might affect you.

For women -
Makeup is also a concern, sometimes - if you want to use the basics, it will be better to go for a 'neutral' look, but don't undermine your self-confidence by making yourself feel plain.

For men -
Designer stubble is not really preferable, so either shave clean or maintain your facial hair as you need to.

How to explain what a douche bag is?

But most importantly i need things that are actually edible please im a 13 yr old so you can guess that i wont be eating anything unidentifiable
thanks
omg im sooo not eating grasss you crazies! im guessin that your kidding though nd not TRYING to be rude

Answer
I use a Built lunch bag but make sure you use an ice pack if you do not have refrigerator access. There are probably others out there with better insulation, but the Built ones are really cute. Also, you can use a thermos if you want to take any warm food like soups or casseroles. If you heat them right before you leave in the morning and then put them right in the thermos it should still be warm by lunch.

Sandwiches are one of the easiest things to pack. Nut butter and fruit spread is an obvious choice but you could also try hummus and vegetable sandwiches (cucumber and spinach is good). The hummus should stay at a safe temp if you use a small ice pack. You could also use deli slices like tofurkey. Wraps are also good and are nice because you can put leftovers like beans or tofu in them. It sounds weird, but peanut butter, shredded carrot, raisins, and a mushed up banana with cinnamon is also really good in a wrap.

Also any leftovers that you can eat cold are good. Pasta salads, veggie salad, etc.

For sides, I usually bring a fruit and vegetable. Cucumber slices, carrot sticks, celery, bell pepper strips, and snow peas are all good for lunches. You can take hummus or some other kind of dip for the veggie as well.

What are some good lunch recipes for school?

MissLoserp

No sandwhiches, though. And it has to be something I can eat cold, because there's a microwave but it takes too long cause of the line up =(

Thanks.

Answer
Ok hereâs a few things you can make

*Lunch Box Taco Salad
Ingredients
2 cups (500 mL) shredded romaine or iceberg lettuce
1/4 cup (50 mL) chopped tomato
1/2 cup (125 mL) canned kidney or pinto beans, rinsed and drained
1/2 cup (125 mL) salsa
1/2 cup (125 mL) shredded Monterey Jack or Cheddar cheese
1/4 cup (50 mL) sour cream (regular or low fat)
1 cup (250 mL) tortilla chips (regular or baked)
Cooking Instructions
In a plastic container big enough to use as a bowl for the finished salad, toss together lettuce and tomato. In a small plastic container with a tight-fitting lid, stir together beans and salsa. Pack shredded cheese and sour cream in separate plastic containers. Finally, pack tortilla chips in a zip-top plastic bag.
OK, you've got all the components. Now what? At lunchtime, open the container of lettuce. Dump bean mixture on top, add a dollop of sour cream and sprinkle with shredded cheese. Finally, crumble tortilla chips on top and lunch is served!

*Chicken Wrap
1 tortilla
Chopped lettuce, tomatoes and carrots
Shredded cheese
Some cooked, cut up chicken
You can add ranch or your favorite salad dressing.

Put the cooked chicken, salad dressing, shredded cheese, chopped lettuce, tomatoes into tortilla and roll it up.

*Trail Mix
A few packs of Raisins
A pack sunflower seeds
A pack or two of M&M's
Mixing bowl
Storage container
A can or jar of Peanuts

Poor the amount peanuts, Sun flower seeds, M&Mâs and Raisins as desired into a mixing bowl. Than Mix them together. Than put the desired amount into a zip lock bag or container

If you love pizza hot or cold hereâs something you can make

*English Muffin pizza
1 or more English muffins
Tomato sauce
Shredded cheese or any kind of cheese you desire
You may also add some pepperoni

1. Split English muffin open and place the two halves on the tray of a toaster oven or a baking sheet.
2. Spread the sauce over the slice of English muffin
3. Sprinkle the cheese and or add slices of pepperoni
4. Bake 4 to 6 minutes at 350 degrees in a toaster oven or regular oven, until cheese is golden brown and bubbly.
5. Let them sit and cool down for 5-10 minutes
Wrap them up in paper towels or tin foil
Than place them in a container

Some other tips I can give you are

*Try getting a thermos so you can bring soup, instant noodles and or other foods you can heat up a head of time. Wash after ever use.

*Yogurt, pudding, granola bars and or cereal bars

*Putting washed and cut up fruits and vegetables in zip lock bags

*Small bags of chips, cookies, candy, juice boxes, bottles of water, cans of soda, Little Debbie snacks.

How long does an insulated bag work for?

kids lunch bag cooler on Kids` Lunch Cooler Bag ( Kids` Lunch Cooler Bag)
kids lunch bag cooler image

~ <3 ~

I'm going to be at college for 12hrs, plus another 2hrs driving time.

If I were to keep some food in an insulated bag, APPROXIMATELY (to your best knowledge) how many hours max would it stay fresh for if:

-the food was reallly hot or frozen?
-it was just sorta cold?

Thanks.

Answer
I found this for you. Hope it helps!

Lunch Bags & Boxes
The first thing you will need is a container in which to pack the lunch. It doesn't need to cost a lot of money. For adults a small cooler makes a great lunch box. Fred uses a medium sized cooler. He is usually gone for 24 to 48 hours, so he needs alot of food to keep him going. For children and teenagers, you can usually find inexpensive lunch boxes and insulated lunch bags at yard sales and thrift stores.

Small children often prefer a plastic lunch box with cartoon characters on the side. I suggest you buy these as cheaply as possible. They only last for a year or two before the children drop them or the latch breaks. At $6 to $10 a piece, buying brand new boxes has never been a good investment for me. I have purchased them new when I desperately needed the thermoses that came with them. After the plastic lunch box broke, I purchased replacements from my local Goodwill. I continue to use the same thermos year after year.

If the art work on an older lunch box is shabby, you can easily replace it. Use rubber cement to glue down a new picture (cut to size) and then cover the picture with clear contact paper. I've done this, and it lasted almost 2 years, until the lunch box cracked and became unusable. Amy D. describes the process in detail in the first book of The Tightwad Gazette.

For older children insulated lunch bags work best. They don't have the juvenile connotations of plastic boxes with matching thermoses, so older kids usually don't object to carrying them. I like them because they don't break when they get drop-kicked across the livingroom by a budding football player. Since they have soft sides, it is easier to fit more food and odd-shaped containers in them too. They usually have zipper closing and shoulder straps for carrying them. I buy the largest ones I can find because I find them easier to fill. Many modern insulated bags have several extra zipper pockets and sections on the outside to carry little extras like napkins, spoons and salt or pepper packets. My boys like these but they aren't really necessary. Purchased brand-new, insulated lunch bags cost between $5 and $15. If you wait until back-to-school-sales you may find them cheaper. Over the summer they can often be found at yard sales. Insulated lunch bags usually do not come with their own thermos, so you will have to use some you already have or buy them separately.

What are some easy and affordable snacks for a kids lunch?

Q. when in the car or taking a break from shopping what are some good foods for kids that can be carried in a purse or bag? nothing too heavy but enough to give them a little boost. there won't be a cooler, microwave or refrigerator available.
kids are 8 and 10

Answer
My daughters used to like things like string cheese, granola bars, cheese and crackers. Apples, oranges, tangerines, grapes, pears, carrot sticks. Pretzels, popcorn, they are low fat and high in fiber just get the low salt kind. These are the snacks that my kids liked and still do even though they aren't so young any more. They are 34.30 and 16 and they still snack on these items. IF you teach them good nutrition now they will most likely stick with it when they are older.
