I have one of those lunch bag tote things... it got wet... can I dry it in the dryer or do I have to let it air dry?

Answer
you will need to let it air dry. the dryer is too hot and your tote will melt. just run a towel over it and leave the rest to nature.

Does any one have an idea for a lunch bag or tote that will truly keep food hot?

goodwitch

I know there are many insulated and "keep hot" products out there, but I wanted to hear from someone who has actually used one that really works. My husband works outside and does not have access to a microwave or stove. Since it is going to be getting colder, I would like to know he can eat something hot at lunch time.
Rusty I could do without the sarcasm. To every one else, if you do not have any helpful answers, please do not answer at all.

Answer
What you need is an insulated bag (similar to the one below) or an insulated tote. You should be able to find one at a camping supplies store.

How do I keep my grilled cheese from getting soggy...?

Q. So whenever I try to bring a grilled cheese in my lunch bag to school, it gets cold and soggy. Is there any way that I can package it so that it stays crunchy and warm?

Answer
Better idea, toast your bread and spread it with Cheese Whiz, that cheese spread in a jar. That's the only way you're going to have a semi-crunchy cheese sandwich, and the cheese stays melted, too!

I take my lunch to school every day, but tomorrow I have school cheerleading immediately after school, then I have to go straight from school cheer to another cheer practice, then I have to go straight from that practice to church, which gets over at 8. Soooo I have to get a filling and nutritious lunch. I take my lunch in a brown paper bag so It can't be anything cold or hot....please help with any suggestions???? Thanks! :)

Answer
Healthy chicken mixed in pasta. Just keep it fresh by keeping it in a container. You can buy tubs of these in Tesco, Sainsbury's(in UK) or other local supermarkets. Also take a piece of fruit that won't get too messy like an apple or pear. Hope I helped ðð

Can I see London on an international connection?

braveheart

Flying from NY to Sweden, but it turns out I will have a 6 hour layover in London, what are my chances of seeing some of the city, get lunch or brunch, take some pictures and back to the plane. I don't check bags, but with customs am I even allowed to exit London Airport on my way to Sweden? Thanks!

Answer
It appears you are a US citizen. If yes, you do not need a visa to enter the UK and you can leave the airport.

However, 6 hours between flights is not a long time. Remember it will take 30 to 60 minutes (depending on the crowd) to get through Passport Control, and you need to be back at the airport 2 hours before your onward flight.

Heathrow airport is connected to the London Underground (subway) and you might have enough time to go somewhere like Trafalgar Square and walk around a bit. There is also an express train to Paddington Station.

http://www.heathrowairport.com/

Gatwick is farther away and not connected to the Underground:

http://www.gatwickairport.com/

Both airports have several hotels with shuttle service. If you don't have time to go to the city center consider going to a hotel and having a real lunch before your onward flight,

If leaving the airport doesn't seem like a good idea at the time, then consider getting a day-pass to a lounge, either from your airline or via:

Would a fruit diet be a healthy way to lose weight?

I was thinking about eating nothing but fruit for breakfest and lunch; then having a regular supper as usual. I also am exercising would this be a decent way to shed pounds? Also for a snack i will most likely eat a small bowl of cereal or a bag of popcorn

Answer
NO. Balance and moderation are the keys to health. Too much fruit is not balanced.

A lot of the answers you will see here will tell you to buy some sort of supplement. Don't take diet pills. They are unnatural and dangerous. It is not the lack of pills that got you heavy; that is not the fix you need. It was (most likely) improper diet and lifestyle that got you the extra weight. That is the fix you need.

The best way to lose weight is through the principles of balance and moderation. You need to eat good food and eat enough of it.

Shoot to lose 1-3 pounds per week. No more. Don't go hungry, just keep yourself filled with good, natural foods.

Don't worry about calories. Caloric science is flawed for several reasons. 1) it assumes 100% absorption, but we all absorb and excrete different amounts; 2) It assumes all calories are processed the same, but calories from natural sources are burned more slowly and evenly than from refined sources; 3) It assumes that the amount of energy released by combustion (burning) in a lab is the same amount of energy released when the food is broken down enzymatically in the gut; 4) It assumes that the same exercise done by different people will burn the same amount of exercise, but different exercises will be harder or easier for different people; 5) Correlation does not prove causation. People who are heavier eat more calories: did the calories make them heavy, or did being heavy make them need more calories? Maybe they are both symptoms of a deeper problem. 6) people in China consume 25-40% more calories; even the sedentary office workers have more calories and less obesity than we.

Asian cultures have long ago figured out how we should be eating, Ever since we have looked to science to tell us how to eat we have seen more obesity and diet-related disease. If we eat like the Asians, we will look like the Asians. This doesn't mean you have to eat Asian food, just adhere to the principles that are common to the different cultures and cuisines.

You should eat mostly vegetables, mostly cooked (cold and raw foods slow your metabolism because they need to be cooked in your stomach) and a wide variety, mostly fresh and in-season and local, simple grains (more rice, less bread), some fruit, a little meat, no dairy (it's for infants and grows tissue), and no artificial foods.

Avoid artificial foods, including sugar substitutes. Don't worry about calories, fat, protein, carbs, nor any one component of food.

There are several books that explain this strategy of eating. "The Asian Diet: simple secrets for eating right, losing weight, and being well" by Bussell explains the diet and its rationale. "The Asian Diet: get slim and stay slim the Asian way" by Tran has recipes that adhere to the principles. "The China Study" by Campbell has the science behind the recommendation.

Get some exercise every day, but not too much and not always the same exercise. Start slow and work your way up. Calisthenics are great, as is Tai Chi. Walking and swimming are also great. All other exercises should be in a wide rotation.

Follow the principles of balance and moderation and you'll be fine. Most diets in America are not balanced nor moderate.

How could I go about going to school and breast feeding? (senior in high school)?

:)

I want to breastfeed and I know it is too early to worry about it (considering I am only 10 weeks) but how could it be done at school? Could I buy an electric pump and leave? (would they allow it) or could I go to the bathroom and pump there? If I did do it in the bathroom though where would I store the bottles?

One more question: How often do you have to pump your breast?

Answer
First of all, I think you are incredible for staying in school after having your baby! Secondly, I think you are even more incredible for wanting to breastfeed AND go to school!

To start, I would contact a guidance counselor at your school and ask what kind of guidelines they have for teen moms who are attending. While your baby is an infant, you may be allowed to bring him/her to school with you if you are unable to find suitable child care. The high school I attended allowed mothers to do this.

If you do have child care arranged and would like to pump while at school, you can also discuss this with your counselor. By setting up a schedule for you to pump, it can possibly be arranged that you are able to leave during one class to pump, have a study hall or lunch period during the time you would need to pump, etc. You can pump in the restroom with a battery operated pump, but make sure it is of good quality. A hospital grade pump will be the most efficient. You might also be able to arrange the use of an empty classroom or teacher's lounge for this purpose as well as a refrigerator for storing your milk. If you don't have access to a refrigerator, that is okay too. You could pack a storage bag with ice packs. Breast milk will keep on ice for 24 hours and unrefrigerated for up to 10 hours. It doesn't spoil as quickly as cow's milk, thankfully.

Ideally, you will want to pump every 3 hours (or more depending on your supply and your babies needs) for 15-20 minutes. You should understand that pumping is not the same as a babies suck and you may not pump as much as your baby will drink. As soon as your baby is born, I would recommend pumping after each feed to increase your supply. The milk you pump can then be frozen and used later (in the event you don't pump as much as you need).

Help!? Ideas for a packed lunch?

ladies insulated lunch bags image

.:Emerald:

Hi!
I finally got accepted to a modeling agency and am about to take classes! (YAY!)
The lady there told me to bring lunch as it is a 5 hour class... I need good ideas for a packed lunch!
Nothing too hard to prepare, needs to stay fresh, easy to make or find, and not too big or small.
Thank you so much!

Answer
Packing a lunch for school and/or work can be a challenge. Often times you donât have access to a microwave or refrigeration. Eating the same thing every day can get old after a short time as well. My suggestions for lunch are listed below. Consider taking an insulated lunch bag to keep some of these things cold until itâs time to eat. You could also freeze your beverage (water, juice, etc) and use it as an ice pack if you donât have a lunch box.

Wraps, salads, and sandwiches are good for the âentrée courseâ of your lunch. Use different deli meats and cheeses every week so you donât tire of the same flavors. Itâs good to make homemade dressings or switch up the condiments on these items as well. Use as many fresh ingredients as possible to increase the nutritional value as well. Another idea would be to cook chicken breasts, fish, and pork tenderloins in large amounts over the weekend and keep the cooked meat in the fridge or freezer as an addition to your sandwiches, wraps, or salads. Itâs a nice change to deli meat. My family also enjoys chicken, tuna, or ham salad sandwiches every so often. And you can never go wrong with peanut butter and jelly!

As the âside dishesâ for your lunch, I would suggest any of the items listed below.
fruit, yogurt, pudding, or jello cups
fresh vegetables with ranch dressing
granola bars
popcorn
trail mix
chips (take salsa or a cheese dip for tortilla chips)
pretzels
100 calorie snack packs (cookies, brownie bites, etc)
special K cracker chips
dry cereal
fresh fruit (like apples/bananas with peanut butter, orange slices, grapes, etc)
tasty cakes (Little Debbie brand)
bologna and cheese cubes
broccoli, macaroni, pasta, or potato salad
crackers (goldfish, animal crackers, cheese or peanut butter filled sandwich crackers)
dried fruit (raisins, craisins, banana/apricot/apple chips)
deviled or pickled eggs
cheese curls or cheese balls
fun sized candy bars
mixed nuts
gummy candy
marshmallows

healthy school lunches for highschool?

dancer1994

Okay so i will be beginning my first year of highschool this september, and this summer i lost 24 pounds! But it took a lot of work, and im not interested in gaining it all back. anyways last year my eating habbits were; skip breakfast, vending machines for lunch, pig out when you get home, then eat dinner. but odviously i've had to change that i now know to eat a good breakfast, healthy lunch, and small dinner. But the problem is im not a big fan of sandwhich foods, i find sandwhiches allways go soggy, and eating salads is just like putting a sign on your forehead saying " I AM ON A DIET" anyways i'll give you some things i do enjoy, chicken (slices or breasts) cream cheese, wraps, pitas, hummus, any sort of fruit or veggie. Does anyone have any recipes or ideas i could use for school lunches, they would be in my locker for a few hours. Also i allways loved granola bars, and those silly little 100 calories snacks. but odviously those are out of my reach now, does anyone have any low fat granola recipes, or any subsitutes?

thanks for any help you could provide!

Answer
You are so smart! You kinda answered your own question. Wraps and pitas hold the healthiest salads you can create! You could say they just hide them better! Make an awesome salad and add sliced chicken breast. Put them in the pita, or wrap them up in the tortilla/wrapper of your choice. Hummus is great in a pita or wrap, just change the veggies you put in... Cucumbers sliced, tomatoes, and of course some dill spiced yogurt. There is no end to the salad creations and combinations you can create. Adding lots of greens - lettuce, spinach, whatever you like, will give you food you enjoy and make you feel you are not depriving yourself. A hearty veggie wrap/pita will be filling and so tasty. You could wrap them in aluminum foil to keep them "cool", and I would check out some of the more "adult" style lunch bags. There are some really nice bags that insulate your food, and keep it fresher.

Cream cheese is one food I would stay away from, you could use non-flavored yogurt instead. Try seasonings that you like and experiment to find new combinations.

I would put two pieces of fruit into my bag. A nice piece of fruit would be a great snack at break, and then have one for lunch too. There is no rule that you cannot make your own 100 calorie goodies. There are really nice little snack-sized ziplock bags available, and check the nutrition label to find out how much you can put in the bag to equal 100 calories. Pretzels, lo-cal popcorn, baked-not-fried snacks, nuts, and low fat granola would be a nice little treat - no pun intended!

You sound like a smart young lady who has control of things. Keep going, and you will be happy with your healthy choices!

warming bottles on the go..?

FoxxyMomma

How do you warm up bottles while you're on the go, like at the grandparents house or at the mall...

I plan on breastfeeding and pumping so I'm wondering how this all would work out.. do I have to keep the frozen breast milk frozen until it's time to warm it up and how do you warm it up? Should I buy a travel bottle warmer? [they don't have the best reviews online so I'm wondering from experienced mamas]

Answer
If you are breastfeeding AND pumping, you could just breastfeed while you're out to avoid this issue. If you are exclusively pumping, you can take refrigerated milk with you (most diaper bags now have insulated pockets where you can put cold milk with an ice pack, or use an insulated lunch box) and run it under hot tap water for a few minutes to warm it.

I need some healthy and easy recipes for lunch?

insulated lunch bags that go in freezer on Bento Lunch Bag, cloth bag, denim bag, for kids, men, women, boys
insulated lunch bags that go in freezer image

Jordan

I want some healthy and easy recipes that I can make for lunch. With cheap ingredients and that I can eat on a regular basis. Also maybe some healthy snack ideas?(preferably cheap) thanks!

Answer
I like to make chicken salad for lunches. Itâs healthy, fast, and full of protein to keep you full for a long time. Just boil 4 skinless/boneless chicken breasts (around $7), then dice into small squares. Mix in a big bowl with 1 cup mayonnaise, ¼ cup mustard, 1 tsp lemon juice, 1 diced onion, 5 diced stalks of celery, salt & pepper (around $5). So, for a total of only 12 bucks, you have lunch for every day of the week.

I pre-portion the Chicken Salad into ziplock sandwich baggies and keep in the fridge, so they are ready to go for each day. Just use a small insulated lunch bag with a freezer pack, to keep the food fresh until lunch time. For a snack, I bring along a bag of baby carrots and ranch dressing. I work in an office, and this is a great lunch for Mon-Fri. Saves me bundles of money and is much healthier than eating fast food every day. If you want, you can take bread to put the salad on, but since I eat low-carb foods, I skip the bread.

What are some healthy side dishes that I can just buy?

Paper Wing

I need some healthy sides to go with sandwiches and other lunch staples. But, I don't want to have to buy and cook the side dish. But, I need more then just fruit

Thank you!

Poll:what do you think true love means?

Answer
As Iâm sure youâll figured out soon, my work is a little bit silly and a wee bit pretentious; like Shakespeareâs willy or Noam Chomsky wearing a strap on. It also tends to be a little bit gay and a wee bit offensive; like Thanksgiving Day or Noam Chomsky wearing a strap on. So please, put your cell phones to vibrate and put your vibrators to cell phone mode. If youâre new to this, let me tell you how this goes.
At times I might be a bit vulgar, but you know women and men are like Coke and Pepsi. I strongly prefer Coke but my brother thinks they both taste the same.
When you love her like kings love queens; like a gay geneticist loves designer jeans. When you need her like New Orleans needed a drought; like Hitlerâs father needed to learn to pull out. And when you want her like a mathematician wants some kind of proof, or like how JFK wanted a car with a roofâ¦
Because love is taking that dive, and then getting comfortable enough to pee in the pool; and love is like real life porn, minus all the stuff that makes porn cool, and love is a homeless guy searching for treasure in the middle of the rain and finding a bag of gold coins and slowly finding out theyâre all filled with chocolate. Even though heâs a bit heart broken, he canât complain because he was hungry in the first placeâ¦
When you love her like Dora loves maps, or like the Vatican toilets love holy craps. When you need her like a voyeur needs a branch, like a boy tossing salad needs a little bit of ranch. Now when you want her like how Goth kids who all look alike donât want to conform, and you want her like Anne Frank wanted nobody to read her personal diary. A diary is a collection of secret things nobodyâs supposed to read; thatâs the whole point of a diary. Billions of people have breached this little girlâs privacy after she was chased by Nazis, kicking her while sheâs downâ¦Iâm sorry, that was a little off topic.
If you met in ten thousand B.C., you were her caveman, and sheâd be your cave lady. If it was cold, youâd start rubbing, and if you got hungry, youâd go clubbing. If you met in seventeen-eighty, you were a white southern aristocratic plantation owner and she was your dark-skinned servant lady, aka slave. Whenever you could get away from the Missus, you went to her shed just to steal her kisses. However, letâs be serious, youâd still have worked her full-time as a slave because thereâs a difference between the romantic language and complete disregard for socio economic trends. If it was nineteen-forty-one, You were a Nazi and she was a gypsy on the run; thatâs a little redundant. Thatâ¦definitely wouldnât have worked out actuallyâ¦
Because love is like watching a shooting star and then realizing that itâs coming right at you; and love is like your friends giving you chocolate, and then realizing that itâs just poo. Now love is going to a party, and then waking up with a dick drawn on your forehead. Now you understand that one of your friends is a douche bag by now and even though you will probably never know who actually did it without them stepping forward, you have your suspicions.
When you love her like how after two years, all Americans want the President dead. When you love her like zombies want the fruit in your head. When you want her like how we all want to survive, and when you love her like how Judas wanted to commit suicide. Really, after Judas betrayed Jesus, he took the money happily, and then fell into regret. He returned the thirty silver coins and hanged himself with a halter. Talk about attacking your faith even more.
Because love is your favorite food for every breakfast, lunch, and dinner; and love is a holocaust if you donât die quick and you donât get thinner. Love is being the owner of the company that makes rape whistles, and even though you started the company with good intentions trying to reduce the rate of rape, now you donât want to reduce it all because if the rape rate declines then youâll see an equal decline in whistles salesâ¦Without rapists, whoâs gonna buy your rape whistles?
Yes, love is partly about whistles.

Actually, I can summarize this to a simple answer. Love is thinking you found something perfect and then finding all the problems with it; and yet youâre still in love.

Is this purse too youthful for a middle aged woman?

Terry

For a middle aged (professional)? Was looking as a gift for my mom as she looks younger and has a lot of energy, but she works as a health care professional so im not sure if itd be too youthful, or delightfully elegant and fun? (Mostly to be used inside a larger bag or for going out to lunch, etc).

http://fashionphile.com/LOUIS-VUITTON-Multicolor-Pochette-Accessories-White-40626#

Answer
It's hard to say... The multi-colored shapes are kind of young'ish, but if I saw a middle-aged woman carrying this I wouldn't think anything of it. But I'm not as uptight as other people are about fashion.

I think you should get your mom something that she'd like, something that fits her tastes. Look at her other purses and clothes - not just what she wears to work but also what she wears out and on weekends. Try to get her something that fits that.

For something so expensive, I'd want to make 100% SURE she'd like it! But that's just me.

Best of luck :)

I'm wondering about my period at school?

luckygirl

I just started my 4th period, and im really nervous. i only just started 7th grade, and my flow was really heavy yesterday. i only wear pads, no tampons, and i asked my mom what to do but she didn't really know. im supposed to change it about every 4 hours, but i cant find a perfect time! im afraid it might leak, and ill never want to go back again! i was thinking about changing it after lunch, but i might take a while, and it might seem awkward if i walk into a bathroom by myself! please help!

Answer
I hated having to deal with my period while I was in school, middle school was the worse!! So I totally know what you're feeling right now.

I have a few suggestions, but to be honest - its still hard and its something you just have to get used to. Bleh!

Ask your mom if you can go shopping to pick out your own pads. At the store there will be a ton of different brands and kinds. You should get a pad that is ultra-thin, has wings and is for heavy or super heavy flows.

Since the pad is so thin, no one will be able to notice it through your pants or anything. The wings will help it stay in place and also help prevent any blood from going anywhere other than the pad. Since the pad won't be moving around you won't have to worry about any leaks or anything like that because the pad is really absorbent and even if you have to leave it on for a little longer than you would want to, the lining of the pad is plastic, and nothing will leak through the plastic.

The pads are also really small so you can fit them inside of your purse or backpack and not have to worry about anyone seeing them if you don't want them to. You can even slide them into your pocket or something if you need to and you don't want to carry your bag into the bathroom with you.

If you have any classes that are close to the bathroom maybe you can stop by in there before or after so no one notices you going off by yourself or anything. If the class is right by the bathroom everyone will be walking by, so they won't even notice!

Other than that lunch time is a good option. You will get more used to changing your pad and everything and so soon you won't even be taking much more time in there, so no one would be able to notice at all.

If you're worried about seeming awkward by walking off by yourself, maybe you have a close, good friend that is willing to go in the bathroom with you? Don't be worried to ask, chances are she is thinking and feeling the same thing you are and will be happy to have someone to go with her when shes on her period too! or you can make an excuse like, touching up your make-up if you wear any, or stopping by your locker, something like that.

As far as worrying about leaks, everyone is worried about them but guess what? They don't really happen that much and no one is really even noticing as much as you think.

You can make sure to put on a new pad right before you go to school and with the heavy or super flow pads that will pretty much be able to keep you through the school day.

You could try tying a sweater or jacket or a sarong, something that looks cool around your waist. That way if anything does leak through it won't be able to be seen, since it's covered up. If your worried about people noticing you having something around your waist during a certain time of the month only, do it on days your not on your period too. Maybe one of your friends is worried about the same thing and she will want to start doing it too. That way it will look normal, maybe you will even start a new fashion trend or something :P

You will probably only need to do it for the 1st little while until you get used to what having a period is like, then you will laugh that you were ever even worried about it. Thats what like ALL women do!~

And don't worry if you don't get the chance to change it every 4 hours, it can stay on longer and its not hurting anything.

What are some creative things to do with rubber bands?

Pink

I need some things that you can do with rubber bands other than tie up your hair, make a ukulele, make a bracelet, make a dream catcher, or a giant rubber band ball. Some creative things please.

Answer
1. Keep Food Fresh â Simply wrap a rubber band around a bag of chips, salad, or baking flour to seal in the freshness.Rubber Band Lunch
2. Act as a Reminder â Wrap a rubber band around a specific page in your planner (and also around the front cover to prevent bending) or around your wrist as a reminder to get something done.
3. Rubber Padding â Wrap a couple rubber bands around a TV remote or ash tray to prevent it from sliding and scratching the tableâs surface.
4. Hold Various Objects Together â â¦like pencils or index cards. This one is obvious.
5. A Bookmark â Wrap a rubber band around the front cover and through the middle of the book to whatever page you finished on. Next time you pick up the book the first page that isnât rubber-banded will be the page you left off on.
6. A Hair Tie â Perhaps you could make a ponytail.Rubber Band Hair Tie
7. A Paper or Poster Scroll â Roll it up and put a rubber band around it. Itâs ready for storage.
8. A Safety Strap for Eye Glasses â Break a rubber band in half and tie each end to the part of the glasses frame that sits over your ears. You can secure the glasses to your face if you make the rubber band short enough.
9. Finger Exercises â Bunch all your fingers together and place them through the center of a rubber band. Spread your fingers out and let them contract. Or, wrap a rubber band from your index finger to your pinky and move your index finger away from the other fingers. Repeat this process for the other fingers.Rubber Band Finger Exercises
10. A Handle Grip â Wrap several rubber bands around the end of a pole or stick to create a handy grip.
11. Secure a Lid onto a Container â If you donât want the contents to spill, put a rubber band around it.
12. Quick Tagging â Are these batteries at the bottom of my bag charged or uncharged? Tag your batteries with rubber bands so you never have to guess. You can differentiate between various groups of objects by tagging each group with a certain color rubber band, or a specific number of visible rubber bands.
13. Stress-Relieving Rubber Band Ball â If made soft enough, a rubber band ball can make for a perfect stress relieving squeeze toy. It helps out when youâre in a fidgety mood.
14. Mark the Level of Liquid Remaining in a Solid Color Container â Take a paint can for instance⦠before you pound the top back on, wrap a rubber band around the outside of the can at the same level as the paint remaining in the can. Next time you need it youâll know exactly how much you have left in a single glance.Stress Relieving Rubber Band Ball
15. Slingshot / Catapult â Every kidâs favorite thing to do with a rubber band, but if you think hard enough, I bet there are some practical uses for making one of these.
16. Simple Art â Take a pegboard and stretch different color rubber bands in various shapes until every peg has been used at least once. Fun, creative and simple.
17. Strap an Injured Finger â Use a rubber band to strap an injured finger to a firm stick or piece of cardboard until it can be properly casted.
18. Melt and Use as an Adhesive â Itâs not glue, but a melted rubber band does make a darn good adhesive.
19. A Distraction â Pull the famous rubber band gun trick and shoot a rubber band across the room. Try to hit something that makes a sound, or just catch your victimâs attention. As soon as they look the other way, make your move.Rubber Band Tie Dye
20. Tie-Dye â The style may have died in the seventies, but who really cares⦠a DIY tie-dye project can be a blast. If you have kids, itâs a cheap, creative way to entertain.
21. Prevent the Mixing Spoon from Sliding into the Bowl â Wrap a rubber band around the upper part of the spoonâs handle just above the point at which the spoon touches the rim of the bowl. Now the spoon canât slip and slide in.
22. Insulate Electrical Current â Rubber bands can act as insulators for low wattage electrical current. Wrap a rubber band around an exposed region of a wire (before the wire is live).
23. Design Fancy Easter Eggs â Wrap several rubber bands in different directions around the eggs before dunking them in the Easter egg dye. This will create interesting designs on the dyed eggs.
24. A Pencil Eraser â Fold a rubber band in half a few times and use it to erase pencil markings. It works surprisingly well.Rubber Band Easter Egg
25. Keep those Files IN the Manila Folder â Manila folders are a great tool for filing papers until you accidently drop a one. Since a manila folder is nothing more than a sleeve, the files will spill out everywhere. A rubber band can fix that problem in jiffy.
26. Kitty-proof or Puppy-proof Your Toilet Paper â Kitties and Puppies love to shred things. Toilet paper is one of their top 10 favorites. Wrap a rubber band around the roll of toilet paper to avoid the dangling temptation.
27. Grip that Jar Lid â Place a thick rubber band around the rim

Freezing glass bottled starbucks frappuccino?

Victoria

i like taking starbuck frappuccinos to school so i bought the glass bottled fraps..if i refrigerate through out the night it doesnt stay cool after first period..If i FREEZE it WILL IT BREAK?
what if i open the glass bottle so the air wont be to jammed in?

Answer
Freezing liquids in sealed glass containers is always a bad idea. Even if you open it or leave room at the top, sometimes liquids freeze in strange ways where they might still break the glass bottle even if there is head room. You should stick with the refrigerator or transfer it to a plastic container. However, you could also bring an insulated lunch box/bag with an ice pack to help keep it cool. Just a thought

I like to walk on this street but I don`t like trended boutiques because those boutiques are very expensive and I usually walking with my girl friend who like to shop. You can imagine what my girl friend would say to me when she sees something she likes in those expensive trended boutiques. I saw a lot of white people while I was walking and even when I went to some restaurant there were a lot of white people who were having lunch. Most of them were dressed up, they looked like they were having lunch during their work. The others were women who seemed very relaxed and were having a good time with their friends. It was funny that I didnât see any African-American people while I was walking on the Fillmore Street. The reason I thought it was funny is that Fillmore street is well known as Jazz and African-American people.
Today I think Fillmore Street is very interesting place for people who study ethnic diversity because Koreans, Japanese, white working-class young people, and remaining African-American families live very closed together in here. This interesting diverse neighborhood may make some trouble but I believe that this place will sing a good harmony.

How can I keep a salad fresh until lunch time?

I plan to start taking salads to work for lunch (Yay healthy stuff) but I'm worried it might wilt or go bad before I get to eat it. We have a fridge at work so as soon as I get in the building it's going there. Will that be fine or are there extra things I should do to make sure it doesn't taste like crap?

Answer
I often brought salad for lunch. Dry your rinsed greens and pack them separately in a Ziploc bag or container. Add a piece of paper towel to absorb moisture. Pack your wet ingredients like tomatoes separately. Onions, radishes, cucumber can be packed together in a separate Ziploc bag or plastic container. If adding canned fish, leftover chicken or meat or store bought cold cuts or hard boiled eggs, pack them separately. You can also keep a can opener in your desk and bring 3 oz. cans of canned tuna or salmon to top your salad. Pack salad dressings separately or keep a bottle or 2 of your favorite dressing in the fridge if their is room. If your commute is over 30 minutes, pack your salad Ziplocs and/or plastic containers in an insulated bag. Keep a fork, knife and bowl in your desk or use plastic. You just dump your ingredients into the bowl when you are ready to eat and you can prepare and pack all the ingredients the night before.

What kind of lunchbox should I use in highschool?

Pink Eleph

I'm going to be a freshman in highschool this year and I'm wondering what kind of lunchbox I should use. I bring my own salad to school everyday in one of these things that squirt out the dressing and I have to bring it home everday to be washed because its reusable, so I can't bring a paper bag. I also don't want to waste the paper from paper bags when I can just reuse a lunchbox everyday, see the point? So I'm wondering if i should just use a lunchbox that looks similiar to this
http://www.impression.ca/images/product_images/Large/BL007_Insulated_LunchBag_Handle.jpg
with nicer handles, no print on the front and no bottom like that of course. I thought it would be better to use a lunchbox like that cuz it looks like the kind I've had for years and I'm just using a lunchbox instead of a paperbag.
At our school our 9th grade is in a different building than grades 10-12 so if you think it makes it matter less if I use a lunchbox or not...tell me.

Answer
As a just graduated senior, and a victim of my mother's salads-to-go, I understand your pain. Are there other options for you besides salads, because if so, maybe just take a simple turkey sandwhich and apple to school in a paperbag. I wouldn't suggest taking a lunchbox to school, even if it looks like a paperbag. Another option is a plastic bag, so you can reuse it. Or, if you aren't health consicous or anything, maybe buy your lunch at school once a week...

What is your daily schedule for kids in school?

lunch bags for children uk image

Quinn

Help my kids start school soon what is a good schedule for them

Answer
My four and six year old children go to school (we are in the UK if it matters).

7: I wake up, have a quick shower, get dressed and eat breakfast. Essentially- GET READY BEFORE YOU GET YOUR KIDS UP.

7;30- Wake the children up, with clothes laid out on bed already, take them downstairs, where cereal (chosen the day before to avoid arguments) and milk/whatever is laid out. Be organised!

7;45- Get them dressed. This can be a daily battle! Every evening before a school day, make sure their schoolbags are packed- if they have uniform, then lay it all out, if they don't then get them to choose clothes and lay it out. Essentially, be organised, so you don't have to organise with such limited time. My advice for dressing is to use a timer- tell them that they've got ten minutes to get dressed and you'll tell them every minute. If they have trouble with buttons, or something, make sure to help. Tell them that if they get dressed before the timer is up, they get a small treat (a bit of cereal bar, or a sticker set thing which is quite cheap). I recommend using star charts because getting dressed can be a nightmare for kids....If they get dressed before the timer for the whole week, they get a special treat at the end of the week. Use positive discipline.

7;55- They are dressed and have eaten breakfast (always eat breakfast before getting dressed, it's so much cleaner). They brush their teeth for two minutes, but usually with general stuff it ends up as five minutes. Watch them do it and tak this time to comb your hair or whatever (asyou will have brushed your teeth before the kids woke up). Watching them means they'll do it quicker and properly!

8- Bundle them out of the house. Any books and bags and sport kit should have been packed the day before in the evening, so it's relatively easy.

8;20- We arrive at school, having gone on the bus and walked.

8:25- School starts. I say goodbye, having had a natter with the other parents there in the playground, and go to work.

3:30- They come out. The first thing I do is check they have everything- sport kit, school bag, packed lunch, letters, books, homework.

3;50 or so, arrive home. Kids are always hungry after school, so I give them cereal and a biscuit, and either milk or juice, depending on choice, and sometimes water. Let them relax and unwind by watching a small bit of TV or playing a small game.

4;10, after snack and relaxing, ask them about any homework they have. Write it down so you and they can remember it, and pin the list somewhere obvious. When they have finished the homework, you can tick it off. Write down the due date for the homework too. First of all, get them to do one piece of homework OR get them to practice their words/spellings/phonics for half an hour.

4;40, give them a break from that and read them a story. It should take about ten minutes, get your kids to point out stuff from the book and actively ask them questions to make sure they understand.

4;50, start another piece of homework if they have it OR finish/do another part of previous homework. If it is a longer piece of homework, I try and break it up into 30 minutes practice. If they don't have homework work- instead they have to do certain spelling words, use a game to check their words. If, for example, they did cat, bat, sat and mat, then you tell them the word and help them spell it, then get them to draw a picture to go with it.

5;20 I get them up to the shower for ten minutes or so each.

5;40- Check homework off the list. If all homework is completed, put a sticker on the sticker chart if you have one, if you don't, then praise them (I would recommend using a sticker chart though). Get them to choose a game to do, and play with them for a bit.

6- Watch TV together for half an hour.

6;30- eat supper all together. They help lay out the table and take the plates etc; in and get praised for doing so, try and encourage responsibility early on.

6;50- I put the washing on for anything to be used the day after next day. Find out what they need for tomorrow and lay out clothes and shoes. Get them to choose the cereal and packed lunch if they have it for tomorrow.

7; Play an online game with one of them for half an hour. My partner does something with the other one. It usually swaps around, it just depends what they want to, it's quite relaxed. It could be anything. Sometimes we just watch TV.

7;30- send them up to bed. They brush their teeth for two minutes with myself and my partner checking.

7:45- They get into their pyjamas. If they have a messy room, they get five minutes to tidy everything off the floor then and there.

7:55 (five minutes accounts for getting into their pyjamas from before)- Read a bedtime story to both of them. The four year old first, and then the six year old, for ten minutes each.

8:15 Lights out.

What is your favorite sandwich?

Sara R

1)Why is it your favorite?
2)What does your sandwich contain?
3)How often do you eat it?
A sandwich that I have recently invented and tried with my sister is the avacado sandwich. We use wheat bread and add mustard, ham, avacados, onions, chicken, tomatoes, salt and pepper. It is soooooooo good. We have it like once every week or so, but it is so good that we had it 3 days in a row!

Answer
Peanut butter and Jelly rocks!
It is such a good combination and it's so sweet.
I eat it at least once every two weeks.

The peanut butter and jelly sandwich, also known as a peanut butter and jam sandwich in the UK and Canada, is a sandwich that includes a layer of peanut butter and either jelly or jam on bread, commonly between two slices. Jars of pre-mixed peanut butter and jelly are commercially available for making these sandwiches.[1] It appears to have been invented by GIs during World War II.[2] The sandwich has the advantage that it does not contain any perishable ingredients, so it does not require refrigeration in hot weather, making it suitable for lunch bags. The peanut butter and jelly sandwich is very popular with both adults and children in the US and Canada. A 2002 survey showed the average American will have eaten 1,500 of the sandwiches before graduating from high school

Where can I buy a small, inexpensive messenger-style bag?

insulated lunch bag kmart on CoverGirl Eyeshadow $1.64 at Walmart | | The Krazy Coupon Lady
insulated lunch bag kmart image
Q. It need not have several pockets, zippers, and hoopla. Just the bag (big enough to hold a waterbottle, a camera, and my phone), and an adjustable strap. (It's for hiking.) And inexpensive would be nice.

I would rather get suggestions on where to get one, so I don't end up shopping around and finding stuff to buy at every store I visit.

Advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Answer
J - what about something like an insulated nylon lunch bag?
The padding would protect your camera & phone, and keep the bottle and water on the outside, away from the electronic stuff. Most of them come with adjustable straps.
Another possible solution would be to find a plain black nylon purse. I found one at Kmart, made by American Tourister, which I use for my camera, along with a few odds and ends. Don't worry, it doesn't look girly or anything like that.
Third choice might be to look in the camping, sporting goods, or luggage section of a store. I've seen hip-packs that have buckle straps that could be worn over the shoulder.
Best, and least expensive, place to check out would be your local discount store like Kmart, WalMart or similar mart-mart stores. If there is an Army/Navy surplus store near you, they may have the type of bag you want.

how to keep a turkey sandwich cold while at school...?

sweet cher

i'm bringing a turkey and cheese sandwhich to school-but how do i keep it cold???i take my lunch in a brown paper bag (i'm not gonna get a lunchbox because their dorky) is there a way i can keep it cold without bringing a icepack???

Answer
no...
get an adult lunch bag, they are not dorky. You can get one in black and put it in your locker so noone can really see it anyways. Target and Kmart and other places have them for around $10 to $20. If you put an icepack in one it will keep your sandwich/ water cold for hours. If you do not put an icepack, many of those lunch boxes are insulated so they keep the temperature even without ice.

Why is there violence - all humens are brought up by women, the softest beings on earth?

Women are the soft part of the nature, in fact all females are, they are nicest things god has given life to, then why is that some of her children take violance and killings as thier aimbitions, i belive no mother can teach her child to do such things.
then why it happens?

Answer
AHHHH!!! I love the way you describe women. but, just because we are soft and motherly doesn't mean we are perfect mothers. There are a whole lot of factors in becoming a mother. The minute you see your newborn not ever one just falls in love In fact the first few weeks are so confusing and hectic you wish you had not had a baby..Your whole world changes an, not ever one likes this. Your body never goes back to pre baby shape.Your husband is wanting to have another one right away Why not hes not trapped at home and chained to a diaper bag. The romance and times together and just sleeping late on Sunday are gone. Never to return.
There a number of reasons mothers do not even like their children. You look just like your Father,Act like him too.
or for gods sake just grown up,will you or Just leave me alone
all of these things stay in a childs mind and part of their personalitys. Then when they are older.(Teens) Its here is a 20 go to the mall,I'm to buzy to do any thing with you. How about...... Oh, we'll go to church next Sunday. Go run and play with your friends. Here lunch money. See you later. Have a good time. Its not a Norman Rockwell world.and can not be again ever. We are a genaration of money obcessed fools. and the children are the ones suffering it will only get worse as years go by.They will raise their children as they were raised. No love, no time to spend with them. The TV and Computers are the modern baby sitters. You can't get love from a machine. Its not all the mothers fault she has to work and pay for that new car or the designer clothes they all have to have. Must look rich. Mothers need to stay at home and raise and mold the little life God gave you. Fathers need to be there and Support the family. Not only Money but most inportant is loveing your family above all else.Maybe,Its not to late. We can all try.

I am STRUGGLING to chose a breast pump! PLEASE HELP!?

lunch bags for women walmart on ... lunch for grades K-4, and $1.35 breakfast and $2.40 lunch for grades 5
lunch bags for women walmart image

kapura

Manual/electric/single/dual pump! I dont care! I have no experience with babies, so my only source of knowledge is through the internet.
I went to Walmart and found about 3-5 options of each kind to chose from. Each of them with their own sales pitch, making me panic when the other doesn't offer what I just read. Wound up leaving because I realized how much I didn't know.
I believe that this will be the most crucial purchase that I will be making due to the amount of use and how much a good one will ease an already too hectic situation...SO, I am willing to spend what I need to to get the job done right. BUT! I am a 24 year old single mother, where money IS an object! So I would love to be reasonable.

Most important factor***
Since I am not qualified yet for FMLA, I must return to work 6 weeks after delivery. I work 11 hour days with a long drive to and from. I need a pump that is reasonable for me to be taking to work and pumping on my breaks. Whether that means I should have a manual for work& an electric for home, I don't know.

1. Please let me know of your experience with breast pumps, brands, and if you have a moment- a link or model number/type that I can look up online.

2. Please let me know of your experience pumping at work. What kind of breast pump, storage, or if you wound up pumping& disposing.

Sorry for the essay- thanks for any input you have!!!

Answer
The three most popular high-quality brands of pump are: Ameda, Medela, and Hygeia. Medela tends to get the highest user reviews, but it's also known to have bad customer service if something breaks. Ameda has better customer service usually. The thing with that brand is that it offers you a speed-dial which actually isn't helpful. If you go with that brand, tip: Just turn the speed dial up all the way and leave it there; only change the suction setting. Hygeia is similar to Ameda. What Hygeia and Medela have that Medela don't is easier cleaning of the parts.

All of those brands come in kits that include storage bags with freezer packs so that you can store the milk you pump and take it home from work with you. Or you can just take an extra lunch bag with ice packs in it, or in a lunch bag to put in the work fridge till the end of the day.

You're definitely going to want a double electric. Going single and/or manual would take SO LONG. You can also buy hands-free pumping bras that hold the flanges to your breasts while you do something else, like surf the web on your laptop (what I'm doing now while pumping). Or, you can just cut holes in a sports bra for the same function (cheaper).

Since you're going to be relying on pumping so much and so soon, you might want to check into renting a hospital grade pump instead of buying your own. A hospital grade is more effective.

Also, in case you didn't know, all insurance carriers in the U.S. are now REQUIRED to provide a breast pump of some type to their customers. However, most insurances will only pay for a single manual pump-- which is a joke for someone who's planning to pump at work. All a single manual is good for is for a SAHM to relieve a little pressure or pump a bottle or two for a babysitter. Still, it's worth checking with your insurance provider to see what they'll cover, just in case yours covers a double electric at all.

As for actually pumping: Your body will take a little time getting used to responding to the pump. So if your first several sessions don't get very much milk, don't freak out and don't give up. Just stick with it. It's best to do something mindless while you pump, and it will all sort itself out. Don't start pumping right away after your baby is born-- wait until the engorgement goes down. But once the engorgement is down, you can go ahead and start pumping at home some to start building up a little stock to get him started at daycare.

Good luck!

P.S. Walmart isn't exactly a specialized dealer and they don't carry all the best brands or options.

ADD/EDIT: A lot of women find a way to pump in the car if you have a long commute. Get a model with a car-charger adapter, get a cover or blanket that you can throw over everything while you drive, and there you go. ;)

Would women accept guys that wear thongs?

NONAME

I wear something that considered gay to wear. I am in high school. Most people from the other sex wear them, but they are made for guys also. Is it bad for a guy to wear thongs? They are very comfortable and supportive than any other underwear. Will people make fun of me if they accidentally see them? Is it unusual for a guy to wear?I have questioned my sex orientation also. I feel attracted to a random muscular black basketball player at lunch. If i am bi, can i get out on facebook without telling people? I want to real bad.Is it bad to watch videos that have men in thongs and speedos? I already told my mom that i wear thongs. Her opinion that most high school guys don't wear them and she laughed in the beginning. She ask me why i want to wear them. They are cozy and supportive and it is my body. She accepted it. she bought me some speedos later on, but i denied it. Why does she want me to wear something different. Is she holding her true feelings back . Why are they made anyway to don't be worn? I told her because i don't know how to do laundry so she could wash them. I told her to don't tell my dad and she agreed. I think she told him anyway. He called me speedo on purpose several days when i told my mom I have older brothers that lives with us.I wonder what they think if they figure out that i wear thongs? Is it bad to want to sag them for people to see? I sag them when i got something from the vending machine in the mornings at school. Their was a lot of girls there also. I bend over to let them see what i am wearing. Five minutes later a pass that machine and the girls said its him. I did it with a different group of girls and they just laughed when i left. I even sag these at walmart for people to see. My friends in the library saw that i sag thongs and the friend that was a guy said you wear thongs.. speedos... model in them man! I guess he likes them so that is good. The friend that was a girl who was there said " man thongs?" I guess she think it is semi hot so. several days ago, i was waiting for the school doors to open in the morning. their is a handful amount of people that was waiting their. When the doors open, i grab my bag and rise my back. They saw my thong i bet because when i got into the door, i herd a girl talking to her friend "disguesting" are they talking about the thongs?I think they are pretty amazing. I be friended my crush on facebook also. He is a pretty sweet guy. How can i talk to him? He does not know me. Like what would you do if you see a random person jogging around the park and you saw him in a red thong on and a short sleevless shirt? Why do they get made fun of like the testicale vesticale, the banana hammock, bungie spunglers, and marble bags?
