How long does an insulated bag work for?

~ <3 ~

I'm going to be at college for 12hrs, plus another 2hrs driving time.

If I were to keep some food in an insulated bag, APPROXIMATELY (to your best knowledge) how many hours max would it stay fresh for if:

-the food was reallly hot or frozen?
-it was just sorta cold?

Thanks.

Answer
I found this for you. Hope it helps!

Lunch Bags & Boxes
The first thing you will need is a container in which to pack the lunch. It doesn't need to cost a lot of money. For adults a small cooler makes a great lunch box. Fred uses a medium sized cooler. He is usually gone for 24 to 48 hours, so he needs alot of food to keep him going. For children and teenagers, you can usually find inexpensive lunch boxes and insulated lunch bags at yard sales and thrift stores.

Small children often prefer a plastic lunch box with cartoon characters on the side. I suggest you buy these as cheaply as possible. They only last for a year or two before the children drop them or the latch breaks. At $6 to $10 a piece, buying brand new boxes has never been a good investment for me. I have purchased them new when I desperately needed the thermoses that came with them. After the plastic lunch box broke, I purchased replacements from my local Goodwill. I continue to use the same thermos year after year.

If the art work on an older lunch box is shabby, you can easily replace it. Use rubber cement to glue down a new picture (cut to size) and then cover the picture with clear contact paper. I've done this, and it lasted almost 2 years, until the lunch box cracked and became unusable. Amy D. describes the process in detail in the first book of The Tightwad Gazette.

For older children insulated lunch bags work best. They don't have the juvenile connotations of plastic boxes with matching thermoses, so older kids usually don't object to carrying them. I like them because they don't break when they get drop-kicked across the livingroom by a budding football player. Since they have soft sides, it is easier to fit more food and odd-shaped containers in them too. They usually have zipper closing and shoulder straps for carrying them. I buy the largest ones I can find because I find them easier to fill. Many modern insulated bags have several extra zipper pockets and sections on the outside to carry little extras like napkins, spoons and salt or pepper packets. My boys like these but they aren't really necessary. Purchased brand-new, insulated lunch bags cost between $5 and $15. If you wait until back-to-school-sales you may find them cheaper. Over the summer they can often be found at yard sales. Insulated lunch bags usually do not come with their own thermos, so you will have to use some you already have or buy them separately.

How do you make a cold pack? (10 POINTS FOR BEST ANSWER)?

My boyfriend has a business job that is going to have him outdoors next week. He wants to wear a cold pack of some sort hidden in his suit so that he's not sweating in his suit. What kind would work best and could we make one?

Answer
Found this:
http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/06/16/the-new-ice-suit-keeps-sweating-men-cool-in-the-summer-heat/

You could try to make your own by getting some thin ice packs for a lunch box, wrap them in paper towel, and place them in a ziplock bag.

The paper towel will help to insulate the ice packs (making them last longer) and condense on the bag less. You don't want it to be too cold or his shirt will get wet... paper towels can prevent this (on the inside of the bag).

Try to keep it as thin as possible and have him slip them in the inside pockets of his jacket.

OR, what I do... is just wear a workout shirt like Under Armor that wicks sweat away keeping it from dripping onto his dress shirt. No ice needed and it keeps the sweat down...

ANOTHER trick is to carry a bottle of ice water. If he drinks the water he will lower his core temperature telling his body to sweat less.

Good luck to your boyfriend and you! Hope I helped!

Going to college- lunch bag ideas?

Summer Swe

Hi so i'm going to college and I need some ideas on a good lunch bag, tote, box, jar, etc. I need one that's insulated, can keep food cold or hot up to 4-6 hours, and isn't picnic size but not so tiny that i can only fit a sandwich in it. Budget is $120. Does anybody know of any good ones that they'd recommend???

Answer
A hundred and twenty bucks for a bag lunch? Wow.

You can get a very good insulated lunch tote, in varying sizes from dainty appetite to hungry man, for fifteen dollars or less, often including a thermos.

i want to mix my protein powder with milk but milk spoils within a couple of hours so i had this great idea of freezing the milk.

it would be out of the refrigerator for 11hours (6:30-5:30) which might be a problem
i was thinking i can keep it in Ziploc bag to keep it cold

would it spoil?

and also..
do you have other suggestions?

Answer
I'm not sure how a ziploc bag would help keep it cold, but if it were in an insulated lunch bag it might be OK.

How long may I leave a aluminum foiled meatloaf sandwich in my unrefrigerated bag, and still eat it?

Your Favor

Answer
If it is straight out of the refrigerator, and cold, about two hours, or until it is room temperature. Hamburger, since it is handled in preparation process more than other meats, is already suspect for pathogens.

go buy one of those chemical plastic freezer things, they do not cost much, and they will hold your sandwich until lunch time. Buy a insulated lunch pail[I got one of mine free, corporate gift], throw in a frozen juice box too, and you will be good, even if the lunch bag is not kept in the refrigerator.

Where can I buy a small, inexpensive messenger-style bag?

insulated lunch bag shoulder strap on ... Mini Lunch Bag Cooler Box Tote Insulated Pockets Shoulder Strap | eBay
insulated lunch bag shoulder strap image
Q. It need not have several pockets, zippers, and hoopla. Just the bag (big enough to hold a waterbottle, a camera, and my phone), and an adjustable strap. (It's for hiking.) And inexpensive would be nice.

I would rather get suggestions on where to get one, so I don't end up shopping around and finding stuff to buy at every store I visit.

Advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Answer
J - what about something like an insulated nylon lunch bag?
The padding would protect your camera & phone, and keep the bottle and water on the outside, away from the electronic stuff. Most of them come with adjustable straps.
Another possible solution would be to find a plain black nylon purse. I found one at Kmart, made by American Tourister, which I use for my camera, along with a few odds and ends. Don't worry, it doesn't look girly or anything like that.
Third choice might be to look in the camping, sporting goods, or luggage section of a store. I've seen hip-packs that have buckle straps that could be worn over the shoulder.
Best, and least expensive, place to check out would be your local discount store like Kmart, WalMart or similar mart-mart stores. If there is an Army/Navy surplus store near you, they may have the type of bag you want.

good diaper bag for multiple kids?

Q. I am pregnant with number three and due in a couple of weeks. I am in need of a diaper bag thats large enough to carry things for 3 kids under 5 yrs of age. Durable, stylish and as I said large.
I am looking to spend NO MORE than 75 dollars on it.
If you have ANY suggestions please let me know! Thanks!

Answer
When I had two in diapers I didn't get a diaper bag at all. I got a Satchel bag the kind ppl carry computers in. It was rectangular and fit the diaper and bottle carrying bag easily it also had several pockets for all my mommy needs. It had an adjustable strap so i could wear it on my shoulder so i could hold the car seat in one hand and my toddlers hand. It was cheaper then any large diaper bag I could find about 25 bucks at target and more adult/ stylish. I used it as my purse and baby bag so when I wasn't with the kids I didn't look like I was carrying around a child's bag. It also was very easy to wash. Also i used a generic insulated lunch sack for bottles that was about $4.00 rather then the very over priced bottle carries. Good luck and congrats.

I am the chairperson of my school's prom favors committee. What are some things that you have received or like to receive as prom favors? Be creative!

note: we have a $10 per person budget.

Answer
Here are several ideas enclosed: http://hubpages.com/hub/_BellaMevents_HIGHSCHOOLPROMKEEPSAKE

My favorite is the lunch tote to prepare the kids for college and/or work after high school. It does not have to be customized. I would leave it plain. The pattern fits both boys and girls. You can add a customized tag to each from a computer. "Class of 2011" on a circle tag with glitter to jazz it up is something different. Also they can be wrapped in cellophane. The back of the tag can have a quote about the memories together that go on during high school. Many were made during lunch :)

Also kids always want a snack of some sort after prom after a long night of dancing so thats why I say add a few mini variety pack of snack bags to them. 2 in each one

Titanic

My dad is concerned about his health so he asked me to find some healthy recipes. Do you know any that taste great but are healthy?

Thanks.
P.S I already know fruits and veggies and water are good for you. But what else?

Answer
The main thing is to eat balanced meals.

Breakfast:
Oatmeal is GREAT for getting rid of cholesterol.
100% Orange juice (no sugar added-red the container), or grape juice (no sugar added).
One piece of toast.

Lunch:
Healthy sandwiches.
Hot stews or soups in wide mouth thermoses for at work (don't forget the spoon).
Cold chicken salads in wide mouth thermoses for work/school (don't forget the fork and crackers).
Fruit for dessert.

Dinner:
A balanced plate such as:
One meat/or fish/or chicken/or turkey (no to sausages).
One vegetable.
One starch which can be rice, or potatoes, or beans, or corn.
Fruit for dessert.
********************************************
1. At your grocery store, buy the sealed PRE-COOKED meats that come is small packages such as the following. You can make two or three meals out of them:

Beef tips with gravy,
Roast with gravy,
Pork roast,
Chicken,
Baked ham,
Pork chops,
Meatloaf,
etc.

Just heat in your microwave; directions are on the packages. You will find these packages in the cold section (not the freezer). Ask a clerk to help you find these. They are delicious.

Use these for your meat dish with a side dish or two of canned or frozen vegetables, beans, potatoes or sweet potatoes which can all be found on shelves or in the freezer section and they are already cooked.
.
You can now buy bags of different flavors of precooked rice that you put into your microwave for a minute or two. These are on shelves at the grocery store. We like the chicken flavored best of all. Have a clerk help you find them.
.
Real mashed potatoes that come in a bag...add water, butter, milk. Delicious. Read the directions.
.
Buy top brand cans of stew for each person. Serve with cornbread, crackers, or toast.
.
Soup and a grilled (fried) cheese sandwiches. Go to this video to see how to make a quick grilled cheese sandwich:
http://startcooking.com/video/326/Grilled-Cheese-Sandwich
.
Omelet with Cheese - Video:
http://startcooking.com/video/326/Grilled-Cheese-Sandwich
.
You can buy all types of salad greens in large packages now. Buy the ones that have been pre-washed. Add your own dressing which you can buy in bottles.
.
2. The top brands of microwave frozen dinners are very good now. These come in single servings or in family sized bags. Follow directions. Look for the words "No Preservatives" marked on the box or package.
Just add a canned or frozen vegetable as a side dish.

Top brands of dinners that are found on shelves. No fridge needed. Add water, microwave. These are good to take to school or work. Follow directions on the containers.
.
3. Video On How To Cook A Rib Eye Steak on Stove Burner (turn on your sound), click this link:
http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-make-rib-eye-steak
.
4. Supermarket deli's have pre roasted chickens, fried chickens, roast beef, and side dishes. You can stop in on the way home and grab a quick dinner to take home. I buy their roasted chicken often...they are delicious.
.
5. Buy a crock pot. You put everything into the pot in the morning, set it on low for 8 hours, and your dinner will be ready for you when you come home in the evening! I kid you not. Be sure to read the instruction booklet.
There is a recipe booklet that comes with the crock pot. You can buy crock pots at places such as your grocery store, Walmart, and etc.

Here are 1,160 crock pot recipes:

DON'T FORGET TO PLUG IT IN! This happens more than you would think. lol

What are some good fundraising ideas for a small group of kids?

Lora

We are a church youth group planning on going to Oaxaca, Mexico to work on building a school. Its VERY important to us. We need to raise approx. 1000 per kid. If you have and ideas on fundraising events, or and businesses that may be willing to sponsor us. Please, let me know.

Answer
My son's French club raised $1,066 per student for a trip to Quebec City by selling 6-inch hoagies (subs) for $3.50 each. The sales were phenomenal. Nearly everyone asked was happy to purchase a sandwich. At $3.50, this was something affordable to all. On the day the sandwiches were to be distributed, the students gathered in the school cafeteria to make them assembly-line style, which took only 2-3 hours. This is one of the most successful fundraisers we have ever participated in.

Another popular fundraiser is a cookbook sale. Perhaps the women of your church could help in soliciting and gathering recipes, with an equal amount from total sales being deposited in each child's account. This would also work well for church bake sales, quilt raffles, rummage sales, spaghetti dinners, etc.

The members of a local church are often seen in front of our Walmart selling bags of various flavored Tootsie Rolls for $2 each. They do this each year, to fund trips to South America.

Another successful fundraiser in our area has been the ever-popular candy bar sales through a local candy maker. Ask at your school for the names of the candy salesmen they use. We also have a pizza shop that participates in $5 cheese pizza sales, as well as a convenience store that offers coupons for a sandwich, chips and drink for $5. As with the hoagie sales, these are enormously popular. Check with the pizza shops and convenience stores in your area to see if they offer similar fundraising opportunities.

Last but not least, a local public school teacher found her calling in Uganda, where she eventually settled to set up an orphanage. Through the generous donations of the students who deposited the change from their lunch money into a jar each day, an orphanage, clinic, and school were built and furnished in just over three years. Where there's a will...

It is my hope that you are able to utilize some of these ideas. Good luck to you and your group.

I am really scared of going to High School?

Lucy

I'll be a freshman this year. I have no friends, I recently moved states and now is almost time to go back to school and I have no friends at all I'm very shy I don't talk much at first. I just don't want to be a loner okay I really don't want to be that kid that sits alone in lunch. I don't know what to do I'm really shy.

NOTE: When people get to know me I can be very outgoing. :)

Answer
You dear, sound like me. I was the same way but once I wasn't afraid to meet new people and talk first I always had someone to sit with. Here is some general high school advice that will answer more of your questions:

Supplies:
a binder for each class, with dividers.
an "everything" binder to always have with you (homework, schedule, planner, etc.)
a 3 whole punch that goes in your "everything" binder
loose notebook paper for all your binders (get lots 6+ packs)
a pencil bag with:
mechanical pencils & led,
colored pencils,
pens,
highlighters,
cheap spare pencils to loan out,
Post-it notes
WHITE OUT
GUM GUM GUM

Then anything your teachers say you need (so maybe a notebook or folder) but, if they just want a folder for the class, I'd still get a binder.

I also always color coded everything. Now, for each class get a different color. Color coding your stuff will be super helpful I promise. designate each class a color and get everything for that class in that color. (EX: Math is yellow-get a yellow binder and yellow notebook or whatever your teacher wants) For your "everything/first day" binder-get a cute patterned one. If you can make your pencil bag match because these are the 2 basic items you will always have. In your "everything" binder keep your schedule and agenda planner and homework, all important papers, etc. This is your take everywhere and don't let it out of your sight tool but is super nice because you won't have to take as much stuff home.

Locker stuff:
First, get some locker racks and organizing boxes. Leave room for books too! A magnetic mirror for the door, those magnetic cups for your locker door too.
Snack
Makeup
GUM
perfume
brush
Nail clippers
Duct tape
ribbon or string
Personal products
HAIR TIES (actually I'd keep that in your backpack)

Basic Tips:
Depending on where your locker is, don't go to it in between every class, it's not needed. Carry everything for 2 or 3 classes at a time. Don't be nervous-it's not as scary as you think it will be. Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you are lost ask a teacher or someone else. If your school lets you-go before school starts and walk your classes a few times and figure out the best routes. Get a map if the school has them and put it in your "everything binder". Maybe even type out and print a simplified version of your schedule because those can be confusing sometimes. Memorize your locker combination before the first day. Get a Jansport big student backpack- they are great!

First day- Well if it's like my school, you go in (if you don't ride the bus make sure you get there early) and if you need to go to your locker, do so. Then just go to your homeroom/advisory (if you don't have that then just your first class.) Listen to announcements. Usually the first day is where the teachers go over rules, expectations, homework policy, that stuff. Usually you don't even have a seating chart the first day. Then you go to your next class and so on and so fourth. Lunch will probably be the most difficult part of the day. Usually lunch is split up into different "shifts" high school and all of the grades are combined. So that girl in English you really liked, might not be eating at your lunch so finding someone to sit with could be hard. My advice on this is to find someone in your class before lunch who has the same lunch and walk with them because also being Freshmen, you have no clue where to sit! Just find an open table. I also highly suggest packing the first day to avoid the lunch line. It's really not bad after your first class, and once you tackle lunch you are good to go! It's really scary walking into the building and into your first class but once you get through it you'll laugh at yourself for being so nervous.

Freshman Tips:
#1 Don't stop or stand in the middle of the hallway or be loud and obnoxious.
#2 Be yourself! You will never make true friends unless you show them who you are!
#3 Don't be nervous. (Of course you'll be nervous but try not to show it!) It's not bad after 1st class.
#4 Be prepared emotionally. You will learn a lot about yourself and about others and start seeing people for what and who they are and will have to decide if that is what you want in your life.
#5 Make good, long lasting friends. They say you don't go in with the friends you come out with that is very true. They also say your friends will change often. That doesn't have to be true if you find the good ones to start.
#6 DON'T LET YOUR GRADES SLIP! Stay on top of things and always do your homework.
#7 Have fun. These are going to be the best years of your life so make them count.
#8 Don't let your "everything" binder out of your sight and USE IT!

Hope I helped! Best wishes love.

I'm planning a birthday party for a 5 year old boy (there will be girls and boys of this age at the party). Theme doesn't matter...just wondering if anybody has some games or activities that can be done?

Answer
pin the tail on the donkey board games card games duck duck goose tag if you are going to get a jumper let them play in it A piniata is always a hit at our parties, we do one every year. Potato sac races, use pillow cases. Treasure hunts....break out the easter eggs, fill them with some goodies, have a few special eggs, gold or with stars and those kids get a prize..or not. Pin the tail on the donkey, they have different versions now. If there are alot of kids you can have a girl and boy theme game. Bingo, Musical chairs, the limbo, Have a table set up with coloring books, water colors, playdoh or a craft for when the kids are "out' of a game or get boared.
Instead of a cake have make your own cupcakes, have icing, different sprinkles and candies to put on them. I would still have a small cake to sing Happy Birthday and for the adults.
The piniata is such a huge hit at all our parties, I don't like to give alot of candy so instead of goodie bags i do a super duper pinata. I put punching balloons(HUGE hit) whistles, noise makers, small toys, jewlerey for the girls(neclaces, rings bracelets) tiny bottles of bubbles, and some candy. Just so the kids know they arent getting goodie bags, I get colored lunch bags and write the kids name and goodie bag on them before hand. This way the kids get to play with the stuff they get at the party, they seem to have alot of fun this way and it takes up alot of time. When my kids get a goodie bag at a party, itis junky stuff, they look at it in the car and like it but never seem to play with it at home, and I am mean, I let them have one or two pieces of candy and hide the rest, or eat it if it is good...lol.

How can I lose weight in about a month or so?

angela

I'm a 13 year old girl I'm 5'4 and I weigh 133 pounds. I don't know if I'm over weight or not. I eat very healthy (meats, veggies, fruits) and I drink plenty of water every day. I just want to get a flat stomach and smaller thighs. I don't want to be a bag of bones because honestly I've tried to starve myself but it never worked. I usually skip lunch because I'm not hungry but then I just have 1-2 crackers most of the time.. Also how come whenever I eat dinner I feel like I have to throw up for about 15 minutes then that feeling is gone and I'm fine. It's weird. Please help. I would like to loose about 10 or 15 pounds. And fast. Thank you! :)

i need help finding a tiny cooler!?

michael

i currently keep my insulin in a mini cooler. it would perfectly fit one can of pop or one can of beer. it has a hard white shell & a cloth outer shell that zips on top. its almost like a lunch box. maybe three inches deep, three inches wide & six inches long. there is no brand name on it & i have been searching the internet trying to find a similar product. mine has torn & i would really like to purchase another to hold the insulin & keep it cool, as well as keep my syringes & meter together. if anyone could help me find one or let me know a company to look into, please let me know. i did not find any on the coleman or igloo sites. thank you!

Alma

Does anyone know what store I can find one at?

I need it to store my refrigerated pills for traveling
do you think I could use a thermos?

Answer
Walmart, Target, Kroger, Walgreens, Dollar stores.
I don't think a thermos will work, they have to be filled with either hot or cold liquid.

what do suggest I pack for lunch and dinner for my hiking trip?

phammy

My Science club is going on a hiking trip soon. I've never been hiking before so I am wondering what kind of food I should pack for lunch and dinner and I do not want to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches the whole time.

Thanks.

Answer
Check with other members from your club. They probably have great ideas about what you can pack and where you can get it from. You have not give alot of info about the accommodations so it is hard to say. If there is a campfire at the lunch or dinner site, you can freeze bottle of drinking water and place it in an insulated bag along with a fresh bag of salad. There are plenty of dressings that only require room Temperature prior to opening. (They are marketed for the lunch crowd). Hidden valley ranch makes really cute small travel cups of dressing that would be perfect. The frozen bottles of water would keep the lettuce cool.

MRE's from a military surplus store make for great meals and they usually have alot of variety. If you have an outdoors store in your area (LIKE DICKS SPORTING GOODS) they have freeze dried meals.
In walmart you can find starkist tuna kits. They have relish, mayo and crackers in a kit with a spoon and crackers. you can mix it together to make tuna and crackers for an easy and cheap lunch. If you choose this option be sure to bring a few zip lock baggies so that you can take your trash with you and it wont stink upyour bag.

Trail mix will make for a good snack (walmart sells this also or you can make your own) for unbetween meal energy.

Can I bring canned tuna and rice on on airplane? I'd put it in my checked in luggage.?

Answer
The TSA website states that you can carry on:
Beverages brought from home or purchased before reaching the security checkpoint in a 3 oz. or smaller container and in your quart-size, zip-top plastic bag.
Canned or jarred goods such as soup, sauces, peanut butter, fruits, vegetables and jellies - 3 oz. or smaller
Cheese in pressurized containers, Jell-O's, pudding, whipping cream, yogurt or gel like food substances - 3 oz. or smaller

Three ounces for liquids and soft foods? That's about the size of a spice jar, so we're really going to have to get creative here. Since sharp objects are verboten, that means that knives and forks are out, so any foods we pack will have to be finger foods.
We're considering packing up our Mr. Bento lunch jar (and remembering to leave the spork at home) with goodies such as:
Dried heirloom tomatoes from the Ferry Building farmer's market
Nuts
Yummy sandwich
Sliced jicama with fresh lime wedge
Cooked rice and grilled skinless chicken
Celery and carrot sticks with 3 oz. of hummus
Applesauce - 3 oz. of course.

What about you? What do you like to carry on the plane for sustenance during long trips?
Whatever you pack, remember your fellow passengers and don't pack foods that have a strong odor, so leave the durian and kimchee at home. If you are too busy to pack up a meal, consider ordering a made-to-order, TSA-approved meal from SkyMeals. They'll meet you at your home, office, or the airport and hand you an insulated tote bag with a healthy meal. One warning, though - they are really expensive.

I need some advice picking a lunch box.?

Lauren :)

I recently decided to make the switch from vegetarian to vegan (no mean comments on that please). However, I realize that this means my choices of food will be limited when I'm eating on the go, which I do often. I need suggestions on an animal-friendly lunch bag that I can take with me. Preferably something cute that's not to "lunch-boxy", please.
I'm willing to spend the money, since I know I'll be using it a lot, but obviously the lowest possible price would be best. I also need advice on some sort of ice pack to keep the food cold.

Basically what I'm looking for is this:
-a lunch box
-a small reusable water bottle that will fit in the lunch box
-a set of reusable utensils

I was looking at this one: http://www.reusablebags.com/store/built%C2%AE-gourmet-getaway-large-insulated-lunch-tote-french-bull-series-p-1633.html

Thanks so much for all of your help! If you need any more info, just ask. :)

Answer
That's funny, I was going to suggest exactly what you linked to. :) I don't have one, but a couple of my co-workers do. They come in soooo many different colors/patterns. I prefer old school metal character lunch boxes (I collect them). and kawaii bento boxes, myself, but I guess they're too "lunch-boxy" for your taste. :) For utensils, google "bento utensil set" or "camping utensil set", etc. With bento sets, it's usually a fork, spoon, knife, and collapsible chopsticks that fit neatly in a small container. Camping sets are the same, minus the chopsticks. I keep a set in my locker at work. You could also just buy a knife, spoon & fork at a dollar store & make your own little carrier for them out of felt or something.

What is a good no sugar picnic food?

kayla

My daughters school is having a picnic tomorrow to celebrate their last day of school. Each parent was asked to bring something to eat. They have a no sugar policy so I was originally planning to bring a fruit salad. After talking with a few other parents and my daughters teacher I realized there was already too many people bringing the same dish. Most other usual picnic and BBQ foods are already taken as well. I am now at a loss. Any ideas?

Answer
Heat the oven to 400 F. Break corn on the cob in half. Lay each half-piece on a square of foil. Add a bit of butter and salt and wrap tightly. Place them directly on the oven racks and roast them for 15 minutes. Leave them wrapped in foil, wrap them (in bundles in newspaper), and transport to school in an insulated cooler. The newspaper and the cooler should keep them warm.
________________________________

Fill sandwich baggies, 1 per person, with a leaf of lettuce, a slice of cheese, and a slice of lunch meat. Have soft tortillas and condiments available. (Don't forget plastic knives for spreading mayo, etc.) The kids can make their own wrap sandwiches.
________________________________

Fill sandwich bags, 1 for each person. with celery sticks, carrot sticks or baby carrots, grape tomatoes, orange slices, raisins, dried cranberries, dried banana chips, etc.

My brother keeps stealing from me for weed, please help?

insulated lunch bag on tv on ... Disney Pink Lunch Box Girls Insulated School Bag Tote NWT | eBay
insulated lunch bag on tv image

Mr.Brights

He's been stealing from me for years now and i don't think he's ever gonna stop im 16 he's 19 im still at school (yr 11) and he works in mcdonalds =/.

So a couple of years ago is when he fist started stealing from me it would be mostly my lunch money i didn't spend (school dinners are ughhh..) this would be £2-£3 he we scavenge my room till he found it and would check my school bag! then he moved on to my games where he probably has sold £500-£1000 worth of games along with my TV and PSP. this is when he'd drawn the line and mum called the police they police came shook him up and said if you do this again will lock you up basically. so a year pasts and he would used to ask for money i obviously said no but then he would ask for money like everyday and would pleed to pay me back more it started of i loaned him £20 he gave me £30 i gave him £30 he gave me £40 then he would just steal all my money (it's around £140) and i told my mum about this and my brother denies it saying he owes me £30 and he says to my mum how on earth do i get that sort of money, i get the money from my dad i see every weekend who gives me £10 pocket money and i usually go pool with him to win more ;) and i play a game to win perudo to win even more this usually leaves me with £20.
and if that's not worst enough he smokes weed with people i know from school and he chats bad rumours about me and he knows i can't do anything about it cause he's bigger then me and he always thinks he the bigger stronger man and he used to always be really violent when i was smaller he would fight be in front of my friends (im now roughly the same height and he hasn't laid a hand on me yet...).
I don't know what to do espically with my GCSE's coming up all this stress is soing my head in every time i see him i just wanna smash his head in but then i know it would probably be the opposite way round, i really have no idea what to do i try to revise but i can't =(
i have told my parents they want do f*** all =(

Answer
The only significant difference between your situation, and a similar one that I went through with my brother is that he was younger than me instead of older.
You have to first get your priorities straight. You say your GCSE's are coming up. I don't live in GB, but I assume that these are exams that you need to pass in order to qualify for college or university. That should be job one. The money that your brother has taken from you is gone, you won't get it back, so don't fret about it. Any future money you get needs to be put straight into a bank account, and you need to stop keeping any significant sums around that your brother can take. However, if he does take any more money the thefts need to be reported to the police. You aren't your brothers keeper, and if he goes to jail because you reported a theft it will be because your brother did it to himself, NOT because of you.
You aren't doing your brother any favours by trying to handle this problem within the family. Your brother is an addict, and addicts don't respond positively when family members try to "help".
Addicts simply look at family and friends who don't report their criminal activity as people who they can exploit and take advantage of.
Your brother is an addict due to bad choices he has made for himself. Only he can decide when and if he is going to get help, and get his life back on track, and stop making your life miserable at the same time.

The only thing you can do for yourself in the meantime is detach your emotions from your brother. If he is talking trash about you to your friends, then so-be-it.
There's nothing you can do to control that. Your true friends who know and trust you, will separate the facts from his fiction, and those who get it wrong will only position themselves as people you can't count on in the future. You have more important things to do than to run around doing damage control because of your druggie brother.

You have a future to build for yourself, so concentrate on your exams, and put your brother out of your mind. Insulate yourself from him as much as you can. Ask your mom to protect you from him. If she was a smart parent she would kick your brother to the curb. If he were my son, I wouldn't give him the right to live in my house and disrupt the rest of the family. Yes I would try to get him into treatment, but he wouldn't be invited back home unless and until he successfully completed a drug rehabilitation programme, and kept up with his work on staying clean.

I can say these things because I learned from experience that we can love our family members who become addicts, but still be tough with them.

You can't control your brother and his bad choices. But you can control how you react to the garbage he brings into your life. Either you let it get you down, and defeat you, or you learn how to cope and find success for yourself in spite of him.

Now it's up to you.

gift ideas please?

nlovelovin

It is going to be my boyfriends 18th birthday next month. i dont want to give him some cliche' gift. please give me ideas. or personal stories
I thought of a hot air baloon ride but its too expansive.

Answer
I'm a person who loves to give practical gifts...and lots of 'em. What does he like? What does he need?

My boyfriend's birthday is actually coming up in 4 days. He is into weight lifting and running, likes funny stuff, and needs a watch. So, I got him a watch, a gift card to Foot Locker for running shoes, an insulated lunch box (he currently just uses a plastic bag) that I filled with healthy snack bars, energy shots, and sleeveless t-shirts (he likes to run and lift in them). He and I watched a Beavis and Butthead DVD his friend had, but we only saw the one and don't have it anymore, so I got him all three seasons of it on DVD. He likes Michigan State and drinking (we're of age, don't worry), so I got him a Michigan State beer glass that freezes when you put it in the freezer. And since every man is really a little boy at heart, I got him those cheese and pretzel snack packs, pixie stix, and some silly straws to drink some alcoholic drinks with.

For the party, I'm going to get him his favorite DQ blizzard in cake form, but I'm going to do the illustration on it based on a joke he made while we happened to see Ninja Turtles on TV while flipping through channels. I'm also going to make his favorite dish, and make my signature drink!

That's a lot of stuff, but even some kind of small gift package you can make by throwing a few of his favorite things into a box will work. When we first started dating, he got me a Christmas stocking with a card and filled it with protein bars (I'm into weight lifting, too).

What do you put in a pencil case?!?

stylish ladies lunch bags on fashion lunch tote brown leopard buy now this insulated lunch ...
stylish ladies lunch bags image

Jam Ardine

What do you put in a pencil case?!I'm in 11th grade & I just want to know.ðð

Answer
1 your name & phone no. in case you leave your pencil case lying around. Most people really do want to return your stuff to you if they only know whose it is.

Beyond that, I work as a non-student math & writing tutor. I have a minimalist pencil case, a flat narrow 7 1/2 " clear plastic one with hot pink zipper & design...very pretty with stylish colors. It's a ladies' cosmetics bag used for this. Thanks for the reminder to get it cleaned out before school begins. It now has...

main stuff:
1 six-inch flexible plastic ruler--a bigger one might go in the pocket of a 3-ring binder if needed.
2 Bic Roundstic medium pens (having removed 4 more, one of them leaky, now trashed--Thanks again for motivating me to clean this out before it wrecked anything.)
2 Sharpwriter pencils
1 very excellent Staedtler large white plastic eraser

extras:
1 emery board for broken fingernails
2 peppermint teabags
1 clean Kleenex for emergencies (Keep away from zipper)
2 sticks of gum
an ID number for the library's computers, not that valuable to campus people with their own ID #'s.
Probably should list other passwords that aren't particularly valuable or confidential. There are so many ever-changing passwords.
a note on Purdue's Online Writing Lab (OWL) website, which you might find highly valuable btw
1 phone msg with name & number (narrowed down from 4 more, now ditched--I suppose younger folks enter everything immediately into their smart phones or wherever.)
Now removed & left at home: 1 crochet heart (a gift)

Might also have from time to time...
$2 for a quick run to the snack bar for a chocolate muffin
2-3 Hershey's Kisses (gifts)--Those don't last long.
a small metal protractor, which you might want if you take geometry

graphing calculator goes in back pocket
keys in right-hand pocket
more Kleenex in left-hand pocket (allergies) & in tote bag along with any overflow like an extra sandwich & banana or some other snack. (Rest of lunch is in cubby or fridge in the staff rm, just as yours might be in your locker.)
reading glasses (over age 50, but that's not you) in tote bag or on top of clip board, etc. These are a pain to try not to lose. Probably should have them on a cord.
Other stuff in ladies' handbag. Ah...the truth comes out.

A big pencil box might be useful, but I'm content with this system for now. I do have several pencil boxes, including a big long one for rulers, at home for extra storage.

Any system might do for you, as long as you have one. A folded-up shrunk down schedule might be good, too. Maybe write it on a 3x5 card to keep it handy.

Be sure to bring gifts to any tutors, lab assistants, & teachers, especially if one of them does something extra for you. Cookies or anything chocolate will be appreciated. Apples & bananas are excellent, too. Might fit in your backpack. (I'm kidding, sort of.)

Which should I buy?? : : Part 2?

O->--<

Sorry, I know I already asked a question similar to this:

I need a large, shoulder bag for work that will go well with dress or casual (jeans)...it needs to be versatile. SOMETIMES I will need to fit a laptop in it along with other work things (lunch, paperwork & so-forth), but not always. Which of these bags should I get (or if you have any other suggestions from www.ebags.com)??

1. (in black) http://www.ebags.com/products/index.cfm?modelID=94561&Subcategory_Link=Details_roxy_94561

2. (in red) http://www.ebags.com/franklincovey/4_single_gusset_split_ladies_leather_computer_tote_special_buy/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=72000

Please keep in mind that I'm 26 years old.

Thanks, everyone!!

Answer
i love the first one, but im 16. after reading that you are 26, i think that not only is the second one more mature and appropriate while still looking stylish, but will look better if your just using it as a pocketbook, without all the rest in it.

Q. Ok so this fall im going to be a freshman in high school and i dont know what to expect so please help me.!

1. What will i need for each of these classes
-homeroom
-history
-language arts
-science
-algebra 1
-phy ed.
-spanish
-choir
-computer communications
2. What should my wardrobe be like.? I went to a catholic school where my wardrobe was very limited.!
3. Help keep my locker and backpack organized
4. How am i goinv to deal woth sports.? My dad says im good enough to make JV volleyball this fall as a freshman and my cousin tells me the same thing but he says ill be an outcast on the team.
5. Any other tips to help me survive my freshman year at high school.

If you can help me with this i will be soo happy.!

Answer
1. You'll find out what you need for each class on the first day. High school teachers are particular about how they want your stuff to be organized, so they don't expect you to have anything but pen and paper on the first day.

2. Jeans and t-shirts got me through high school. If you prefer skirts and collared shirts, by all means, wear them. If you're concerned about being stylish, get yourself a nice pair of jeans and a few cute tees for the first couple of days and observe what the other girls are wearing, then go clothes shopping to pick up a few of the more popular items you see. Popular styles you might see include light cardigans/jersey-knit shrugs over tank tops, skinny jeans (boot-cut will work fine if you're not exactly 'skinny' but still want the look), and graphic tees.

3. Locker: Get a shelf or two, a mirror/whiteboard, some magnets and a magnetic cup or pouch to store a couple of dry-erase markers in. Keep your books on the bottom of your locker and your binders/folders on the shelf above them; if you get a second shelf, keep small things like your lunch/purse if you carry one, emergency feminine supplies, chapstick, water bottle, etc on it.
Backpack: Try to carry only the materials for one or two classes at a time; use your locker to store what you don't immediately need. You might consider keeping a Homework folder that stays in your bag at all times; take whatever you need for that night's homework assignment out of the class binder and put it in the Homework folder at the end of each period. The next morning at your locker, take the completed assignments and class materials out and put them in the proper binder. I preferred using a messenger bag because I don't have to take it off to get at the contents; it saved me time when stopping at my locker between classes.

4. Try out for JV volleyball if they'll let you; your cousin is just trying to scare you. If they won't let you, or you don't make it, see if there's a freshman volleyball team and try out for that one.

5. Try not to get involved with your friends' drama. It's really more stress than it's worth. Never take sides. If somebody's mad at somebody else for something, just wait until they sort it out and don't talk about either of them behind their backs. Staying out of drama is hard to do; there's a reason there are so many TV shows about women having petty arguments. It's somehow fascinating to humans, like a train wreck. If you try to avoid the drama, though, you'll have a much easier time of it in high school.

eeee

can somebody please help me find a nice lunch bag .something not too mechanical or complicated at an affordable cost :):)

or suggest any name brands?? yayy

Answer
Depends if you want to buy a lunch bag online or at the store. Or it also depends on where you live as well, and what type of lunch bag you want (male, female, kids?)

Online, you can get a girly lunch bag with your name monogrammed on it. Or you can simply buy one without your name on there.

I'm not sure if you live in the states (I'm assuming you live there...), or anywhere else, but Target has a few cute lunch boxes and one where you can decorate it yourself.

Uhh, I live in Canada and I usually get my lunch bags at a store called Bentley. I go over the top and buy girly-girl one's with fake diamonds, pink embroidery, and all those cute attachments and I'm 17...

How do you bring lunch in high school?

Matt L

I'm a freshman in ontario, canada. school starts tomorrow. i've only been attending a private school my whole life but i'm going to a public high school so i don't know what the differences are. for lunch, up until now, EVERYONE carried this lunch bag at my privaet school:
http://goshopping.thestar.com/shop/product--catId_1002903__locale_en__catCrumbIds_1002463-1002903__productId_8209656.html

which their parents packed.. now i'm going to a public high school so i have no idea how the other kids pack.

so MY QUESTION: how do kids pack their lunches in canadian PUBLIC high schools? like in a plastic bag, a brown paper bag, or just the insulated bags i showed you?? or do most kids just buy their lunches from the school cafeteria? how do kids eat on the first day of high school??
so would it be okay to bring a lunch bag like above or would people think i'm a little kid or something?

Answer
Well, at my school, most kids buy...but of the few that do pack (that I've noticed), they use plastic bags and just throw them away when done.

Answer
Get yourself a large platter and arrange the following on it to serve at dinner time. If you know how to crochet, there are a lot of patterns for deserts.

What are some really easy Easter crafts for toddlers?

Answer
Easter crafts i am going to do with my day care kids ( ages 18 months - 10 years) are

Scrunched Tissue Paper Egg
http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/scrunched_tissue_paper_egg.htm

Easter Bunny Bag

What you'll need:

Paper lunch bag or colored gift bag
Craft foam sheets purple and white
2 large wiggle eyes
White craft glue or school glue
Scissors
Pencil

How to make it:

Begin with a piece of foam, slightly larger than your bag on the sides, but about the same height.
Fold the purple foam in half and draw two half circles, as if you were drawing the round parts of a letter "B". Be careful not to go completely to the fold for the middle line.
Cut along the drawn lines. When you unfold the foam you will have two connecting ovals.
Cut a hole in the center of the smaller oval to serve as a door hanger.
Cut two long rounded pieces of white foam for the ears.

Cut out white pieces of foam for the nose, eyes, whiskers, mouth and teeth.
Arrange all the facial pieces until they are positioned where you want them, and then glue them in place.
Glue the bunny head to the bag, leaving the ears above the opening of the bag.
Now you can hang your bunny bag from a doorknob!
