Where can i find a nice suitcase in the uk for women under £30?

Jenny

I want a suitcase that is cute like for women and teenagers. Like with a pattern like animal print or dots or stripes something like that but it cant be too expensive like under £30. Im going on holiday in 28 days and hopefully will get it before then. A bit like this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Roxy-Cherry-Pie-Luggage-Red_W0QQitemZ400044003611QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Tickets_Travel_Luggage_CA?hash=item5d247b111b&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1688|293%3A1|294%3A50

or http://www.amazon.co.uk/Roxy-Cherry-Pie-Travel-Luggage/dp/B0021B0U7Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=sports&qid=1247759162&sr=8-1

or http://www.amazon.co.uk/Animal-Wheeled-Luggage-Medial-Flower/dp/B001TA1M34/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=miscellaneous&qid=1247759162&sr=8-10

and if you can, i need a bag for school. the strap has to be at least 30cm = 11.8 inches.
the same type of designs as above. it needs to fit at least 2 A4 ring binders in, several school work books, a pencil case, lunch box and water bottle in. preferably with pockets also for money and keys.

please post as many links as you can.

thank you soo much xxxx

Answer
You can't buy women any more. It is illegal. Even if it were, they would cost more than 30 pounds.

diet for a 13 year old w/ what lunch they fix at my school?

Faith Mack

Ive been wanting to lose weight, I weigh 160 pounds im 5ft 2in. I wanna know what are ways I can do a diet plan with the lunch they fix at middle school.(I can't bring my lunch) also a good exersies plan. thanks:)

Answer
you're 13 years old only. You're still growing and got a long way to go. SO DO NOT GO ON ANY CRAZY DIET PLANS! this will mess you up for life and I have seen it so many times.

little kids wanting to have "6 packs" like movie stars so they starve themself and what do they get?
they think its a six pack but in reality, its ribs!

anyways, the best advice I can give you is. eat normal.
simply replace junk food with healthy food.
instead of a bag of chips, eat an apple.
instead of soda, drink water/juice.

and most importantly exercise! nothing serious, just get out there and play with your friends instead of video games all day.
play tag/basketball, swim or whatever you want. just stay active. and i PROMISE you the weight will naturally come off.

childrens garage sale...what would you do?

allybabes2

Im trying to clear out my daughters old stuff for the new baby boy thats on the way so im having a massive garage sale.
i just pulled out all of my daughters old boxed up clothes and there are literally hundred and hundreds of clothes.
I was going to hang up and price tag the more expensive items like dresses and jackets and such.
but the rest of it what should i do?
I was thinking of just having seperate giant boxes that say $.50, $1 and $2 each. and toss all of the clothes in them accordingly.
but then i thought, how am i gonna know what box ppl grabbed all of these different clothes from when they come to pay?
what would you do? any ideas?
also, i was thinking of maybe getting those big packs of dot stickers and each color would stand for a different price and just sticker all of the clothes..?

Answer
When my children were young, my sister-in-law and I lived near each other and we had 7 kids between us. Every year or so we'd have a big combined yard sale. What we did with our massive amounts of kids' clothes (she worked at a high end department store and bought tons of stuff on clearance for all the kids) was we'd put all the nicer things on hangers and mark them individually. Everything else was put out on tables or left in boxes. We would save up our white plastic grocery bags than we'd sell the clothes per bag. We generally had a 3 day sale. On the first day, our price would be $5/bag. On the second day we'd do $4/bag. The third day we'd start the day with $3/bag, but usually by lunch we were down to $2 or $1 per bag depending on how much we had left over and the condition of things. By then we just wanted it to go to a new home so we didn't have to drag it back into our houses. We shared a lot of clothes between our kids anyway so it was always hard to say who the clothes actually "belonged" to, so we just kept track of how many bags we sold and divided the money equally. If someone only wanted 1-2 items and not a whole bag, we usually let things go for either 25 or 50 cents depending on what it was. The thing with stickers is they don't stay on clothes very well plus are easy to get stuck on other clothes. Our goal was to get rid of as much stuff as possible and make a little money in the process so we didn't worry too much about getting hung up on pricing each individual item of clothing. It's very time consuming.

Do I have to carry around my backpack in high school?

Matt L

*please read until the end*
i'm going into grade 9 tomorrow, do I have to carry around my backpack from class to class in ontario, canada, or do i get to go to my locker every period to get the things i need for the next class?

and should i bring notebooks AND binders the first day?

and also, How do you bring lunch in high school?
I'm a freshman in ontario, canada. school starts tomorrow. i've only been attending a private school my whole life but i'm going to a public high school so i don't know what the differences are. for lunch, up until now, EVERYONE carried this lunch bag at my privaet school:
http://goshopping.thestar.com/shop/product--catId_1002903__locale_en__catCrumbIds_1002463-1002903__productId_8209656.html

which their parents packed.. now i'm going to a public high school so i have no idea how the other kids pack.

so MY QUESTION: how do kids pack their lunches in canadian PUBLIC high schools? like in a plastic bag, a brown paper bag, or just the insulated bags i showed you?? or do most kids just buy their lunches from the school cafeteria? how do kids eat on the first day of high school??

so would it be okay to bring a lunch bag like above or would people think i'm a little kid or something?

if you could answer all of my questions, that would be GREATLY appreciated.
THANK YOU!
may the best, thorough answer get the 10 points they deserve....

Answer
It really does not matter if you carry your backpack or not. The people at MY school usually carry around backpacks, but some people do just carry their books (I also live in Ontario, Canada). You do get to go to your locker at the end of each period, but not much time. your locker would need to be close to your next class. I suggest you bring your backpack with the things you need for your first classes, then at lunch, change them for the last couple of classes.

Bring Notebooks or Note paper AND binders the first day.

And about the lunch thing, there's no sweat. People do all sorts of things: bring a regular lunch pale/ box, brown bag, walk to the nearest fast food place, or buy lunch from your cafeteria. it doesn't really matter. And kida eat on the first day lol.

Middle School lunch??

jrgsmadiso

in middle school, i dont know what i should do about lunch. i dont know if i should take a luchbox, it might be a hassle, a paper sack, or just buy it. tell me what you would do please.

Answer
I always hated carrying anything outa the lunch room with me, especially since once i got to high school i didn't always go to my locker right after lunch. If I brought my lunch i used a paper bag, in both middle and h.s people still brought lunch boxes too. If I liked what was for lunch, I bought. My school had pizza, salads, wraps, and subs everyday, so i did end up buying a lot. Some schools are way overpriced with lunches though. I would say buy lunch on days you like something they have/want to buy, bring if you don't and the lunch box thing will depend on if you go to your locker right b4 and after lunch , or if ur willing to carry it around. In my school most guys bought , i guess they didnt think it was cool to bring a lunch, and the girls were pretty well split b/w bringing and buying. Good luck in middle school, its way better than gradeschool!

Cheap lunch box food ideas?

4 due in S

I have 2 kids in elementary school. they are complaining that their breakfast and lunch at school is either gross or cold by the time they get through the line and get to sit down and eat.

I am thinking I am paying $33.50 a week for crap at school so taking their lunch might be a better idea.

what are some ideas for the main meal in their lunch box?

i know i can get a cold bottle and put juice or milk in ot and freeze it and give them fresh fruit or yogurt but what other things can you put in lunch boxes. Im scared of putting cold or hot foods that will not stay cold or hot.

Answer
I think the cheapest way to do things is not buy prepackaged.
I send bagels with cream cheese from home for lunch ( you could for breakfast)
Pre toasted waffle cut in half with PB-- Or Cereal in a bag
Buy a large bag of pretzels and put them in the bags themselves. Or cookies, or crackers or
I buy Go-gurts and freeze them and they are thawed by lunch.
I bought a freezer back ($1) at walmart to keep sandwiches cold.
I send them water bottles with ice cubes and they are cold all day.
I never really got into thermos but I have friends that send Mac and cheese in them or ramen noodles.
Cut up apples and toss with cinn and sugar so they don't look brown by lunch

Ha ha great answers, you guys made me laugh! Thanks!

Answer
If he's just your boyfriend, then you aren't yet his housewife. But as this seems to be how you wish to define yourself, wouldn't it be better to subserviently ask him how he'd like his lunch packed? Frankly, I'd think it would be far nicer to deliver a HOT lunch to his place of work.

It can't take too long to prepare.
It can't contain wheat.
It can't contain salted meats.

Pasta salad that could last a while?

Jonathan W

I commute to my university, and often have classes from 9 am until 4 pm. During my breaks between classes, it's not feasible to drive home for lunch, so I end up eating at the restaurants my campus offers, most of which is fast food (unhealthy and expensive). I love pasta salad, and I was thinking that would be a great lunch idea to pack into a tupperware and put in my bag. But I won't have refrigeration obviously, so it would have to be stuff that wouldn't start to go bad or taste funny after 4 hours.

So... whatcha got for me in terms of recipes? Thanks!

Answer
Instead of a mayo based salad, do a vinegar based one...you will have less to worry about. 4 hours isn't too bad - but I would look into getting an insulated lunch bag anyway...it really helps!

Greek Pasta Salad
1 lb pasta, (rotini, farfalle, or shells) cooked to minimum time and cooled (donât rinse!)
½ large red onion, chopped
1 to 2 cloves garlic, minced
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh basil
1 Tbsp. chopped fresh oregano
Freshly ground black pepper â to taste
Sprinkle of salt, to taste
½ Cup extra virgin olive oil
½ Cup red wine vinegar
1 lemon, juiced
1 small can sliced black olives
1 & ½ clamshells of red pear or cherry tomatoes cut in half
1 bell pepper, chopped (I prefer orange or yellow for the color, otherwise red. You can use green, but the others are sweeter.)
1 large cucumber, seeds scooped out and discarded, chopped
1 block (6 or 8 oz) feta cheese, crumbled
1 cup freshly shredded parmesan cheese

In a LARGE bowl, mix together onion, garlic, herbs, oil, vinegar, and lemon juice and let sit for about 20 minutes. Add the pasta and the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Refrigerate for a few hours before serving.

Other things you can add: chopped asparagus (steamed & cooled), chopped broccoli (steamed and cooled or raw), (this may absorb some of the oil & vinegar, so you may need to add more), chopped zucchini, chopped summer squash, canned artichoke hearts, drained and chopped, fresh, chopped spinach, thinly sliced pepperoni.

What to eat for lunch at school?

pinksports

The lunch at school isn't the junkiest but it's not the healthiest either.Should I pack my lunch? If so, what should I pack so that it's healthy? Thanks so much! :]

Answer
Yay!
Im thee first person to answer your question.
well,Yes,not all schools serve healty lunch.
But if you do take your lunch make sure somthing in your lunchbox isn't healthy.
Its not always good to eat healthy food u know.
but anyway
if u do take ur lunch to school.
I suggest that u take a pizza slice or a sadwitch then u can take a gronola bar and some water or soda or u can takes some chips or a apple, peach, pear, plum, anything u want...
Are u trying to watch ur weight.
cuz if u are its NOT healthy for grls 10-12 old to diet or 12-16 to diet they can cause their selfs to have a dises so just trust me:D
Hope this help u or u can take this:D

Actual time for eating lunch at most schools only lasts for 15 to 20 minutes and is filled with distractions. Make sure the lunch foods you pack are easy to eat, packed in easily opened packages, and don't require peeling or special tools.
Small children may not eat very much at one sitting. Think about packing appetizers instead of a large sandwich and whole banana. You can also include more choices if the quantity of each is smaller. Fill a mini muffin tin with small amounts of foods, wrap with foil, and pack into the lunch box.
Small foods are not only easier for children to handle, but they are more fun to eat. Cut sandwiches into smaller pieces, use tiny tortillas for wraps and small sandwich buns, serve baby carrots and peel and cut fruit into smaller pieces to interest your child in the foods you pack.
Think about different types of bread for sandwiches and dippers. Try crackers, mini waffles, rice cakes, mini croissants, pita bread, mini muffins, small bagels, tortillas, focaccia, raisin or cinnamon bread.
If your child wants the same thing day after day, go ahead and pack it, as long as the overall meal is nutritious and you are sure your child eats it. Kids don't like a lot of change in what they eat. Did you know that it takes 10 to 12 introductions to a new food before a child is usually willing to even taste it?
Take some time to look at the prepackaged lunches in your grocer's refrigerated section. These appeal to kids, but aren't very nutritious. You can pack the same types of snack foods, but use healthier choices for more kid appeal.
Salsa, hummus, bean dips, or fruit dips with baked chips and veggies or fruit are good lunchbox choices, since these foods contain more vitamins and fiber.
Make sure to think about food safety. Freeze juice boxes or small gel packs and place in the bag. The juice will keep other foods cool and will thaw to just the right temperature and consistency by lunchtime. Use an insulated thermos for hot foods like soups and stews, and cold salads too. For best results, rinse out a thermos with very hot water to heat it before adding hot soups. Rinse it out with ice water to chill the thermos before adding cold soups.
If you make your own snack mixes, you can include healthy additions like dried fruits, unsalted nuts, pretzels, and baked crackers. Kids love to munch on something crunchy and sweet or savory.
Instead of making sandwiches, consider packing individual sandwich ingredients to let your child make their own sandwich at lunch, or eat the ingredients separately. Many children don't like to eat more than one food at a time, since their sense of taste is very intense.
Cereal bars can pack a lot of nutrition into a food kids love to eat. Include raisins, currants, or other dried fruits in the recipe for additional flavor, color and nutrition.
Make sure to include something fun - a sticker, cookies wrapped in plastic wrap with a ribbon tie, sandwiches cut into playful shapes, or meats and cheeses or fruits threaded on a caramel apple stick (which is safer than a traditional kabob stick). there go hope this helped u alot:D

suggestions and a questions about kids lunch?

Belle

I know this is probably a stupid question but considering whatever you make in the morning for lunch doesn't get eaten until 4-5 hours later, is it okay to give them certain meats or meals not a good idea. I'm thinking hot dogs, or spaghetti and meatballs (probably made the night before), etc.

I am aware that it will not be warm but my 8 year old says he'd really like these things for lunch.

Also any suggestions/advice besides your regular meat sandwiches or pb&j

Answer
Buy a wide mouthed Themos. They make them short, just right for stew or spaghetti. Make the stuff the night before, toss it in the 'wave, and nuke it in the am while you fix breakfast.
Toss in a fork, or a spoon, and let him take that to school.

buy a insulated lunch bag. Mine is square, and it was not the largest one on the shelf. Don't buy one that is in the shape of a lunch sack, they do not hold much.
Put in anything you want, Spaghetti Os, mac and cheese, thick soup, beanie weinie, on and on.
Buy a small tupperware to hold a roll, or bread, or a side, or cookies so they do not get crunched up or squished.
I would try to make the item a little more saucy than usual, so the sauce does not all absorb during the morning.
Little tupperware are made, just fine for condiments.

rivers would love to see a piece of meatloaf in her Thermos.

Send the garlic bread in a baggie.

for cold stuff, buy one of those freezable chemical ice things, they make them small for lunch boxes. then buy a bread sized tupperware. could have tuna or chicken salad, or anythig else cold.
Freeze a juice box, the toss it in. It should unthaw by lunch.

How long does an insulated bag work for?

~ <3 ~

I'm going to be at college for 12hrs, plus another 2hrs driving time.

If I were to keep some food in an insulated bag, APPROXIMATELY (to your best knowledge) how many hours max would it stay fresh for if:

-the food was reallly hot or frozen?
-it was just sorta cold?

Thanks.

Answer
I found this for you. Hope it helps!

Lunch Bags & Boxes
The first thing you will need is a container in which to pack the lunch. It doesn't need to cost a lot of money. For adults a small cooler makes a great lunch box. Fred uses a medium sized cooler. He is usually gone for 24 to 48 hours, so he needs alot of food to keep him going. For children and teenagers, you can usually find inexpensive lunch boxes and insulated lunch bags at yard sales and thrift stores.

Small children often prefer a plastic lunch box with cartoon characters on the side. I suggest you buy these as cheaply as possible. They only last for a year or two before the children drop them or the latch breaks. At $6 to $10 a piece, buying brand new boxes has never been a good investment for me. I have purchased them new when I desperately needed the thermoses that came with them. After the plastic lunch box broke, I purchased replacements from my local Goodwill. I continue to use the same thermos year after year.

If the art work on an older lunch box is shabby, you can easily replace it. Use rubber cement to glue down a new picture (cut to size) and then cover the picture with clear contact paper. I've done this, and it lasted almost 2 years, until the lunch box cracked and became unusable. Amy D. describes the process in detail in the first book of The Tightwad Gazette.

For older children insulated lunch bags work best. They don't have the juvenile connotations of plastic boxes with matching thermoses, so older kids usually don't object to carrying them. I like them because they don't break when they get drop-kicked across the livingroom by a budding football player. Since they have soft sides, it is easier to fit more food and odd-shaped containers in them too. They usually have zipper closing and shoulder straps for carrying them. I buy the largest ones I can find because I find them easier to fill. Many modern insulated bags have several extra zipper pockets and sections on the outside to carry little extras like napkins, spoons and salt or pepper packets. My boys like these but they aren't really necessary. Purchased brand-new, insulated lunch bags cost between $5 and $15. If you wait until back-to-school-sales you may find them cheaper. Over the summer they can often be found at yard sales. Insulated lunch bags usually do not come with their own thermos, so you will have to use some you already have or buy them separately.

I can answer this one! I just had an 18 hr flight with layover from US to Montreal to England and 15 hrs back from Italy to Germany to Montreal to US. Don't worry about the food. I ate a lot and
I was fine. I assume your flying Air Canada? They have complementary puke bags if you need them in the pocket in front of you. If you do need to puke I say get it over with asap so that the rest of the time you'll be fine. My flight was really smooth though and only a pregnant women had any trouble. Also Air Canada has these telescreens you can watch movies on so just plug in and forget your on the plane. Falling asleep helps to. If the turbulence scares you just grab the arm rest and grit your teeth. Don't worry, you'll do fine :)

do you think it's silly to alter your diet a lot just because you're pregnant?

Ember Halo

like, avoid lunch meats, hot dogs, tuna, certain cheeses, have your eggs well cooked (as opposed to over easy), don't eat raw cookie dough or brownie batter, etc etc etc etc....
i understand the big ones--no alcohol, limit caffeine, eat healthy, but are *all* the restrictions REALLY necessary???
i've been following all the restrictions, myself. it came up between me & my MIL & she thought they were absolutely ridiculous....
(but i have been craving some of those things... so hard to resist!!!)
also, this question has come up from my husband & frineds, because there've been times when i can't [won't] eat, because the food available wasn't allowed. (burgers that weren't well done, hot dogs, Subway sandwiches, etc)...
and i HAVE made the sacrifice, btw. i'm not complaining, just wondering what everyone else thought. thanks :)
hey, now, i don't think it's silly. everyone's calling ME silly for taking these precautions.

Answer
Well alcohol and caffeine are drugs, so that's obvious right there *lol*.

Fish high in mercury -well that's iffy. Really none of use should eat foods high in mercury.

But the rest of it I agree with you. Yes Listeria is only really a risk if you are pregnant, but the risks are so small. Something like 500 cases per year and that isn't just pregnant women, and something like 5 million women give birth each year (US stats). Also Listeria is found in soil and water. I went nuts worrying about Listeria for awhile and when I found that out I just gave up.

As for the eggs pshaw! If you haven't gotten salmonella in the last couple of decades of eating your eggs over-easy/raw cookie dough, do you really think you're going to in the next 9 months?! I worked in a food testing lab (not taste testing, testing for disease) and there was basically never any contaminated eggs, the farms are carefully controlled. Not to mention salmonella may make mom sick, but as far as I know it doesn't cross the placenta. Same with e.coli and trichinosis.

And while we're on it you know what I don't eat? Bagged salad. Because of a) the chemicals on it and b) they keep getting contaminated. And you know what just got recalled AGAIN? Bagged salad.
http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/Food-Poisoning/news/20070918/e-coli-risk-spurs-dole-salad-recall?ecd=wnl_nal_091807

And sushi, pshaw like 5 people a year in the US get parasites from sushi each year, and trust me parasites don't leave your digestive tract let alone cross the placenta. Actually most sushi in the US is flash frozen to kill parasites even though this effects the flavour and texture. This practice is not as common where I live (Canada), they tried to make it the law but had to repeal it after all the outcry.

Help with lunch ideas, please. :)?

sha h

My husband and I both work on an ambulance. We both work a 24 hour shift and a 48 hour shift every single week. We spend between $800-$900 a month on lunch alone, and this is all drive through... Some weeks we may get some time at the station, but it's a very regular thing that we will be away from the station for 24 hours straight and sometimes even longer, so we can't really depend on putting bagged lunches in the fridge. We do however get to work together, on the same ambulance, so we can pack a full lunch together and just share it... The only real thing I can think of to help us save some $$, is peanut butter sandwiches. We both love them, but eating nothing but PB sandwiches for 48 hours straight gets a little old... I just really need some ideas that we can pack for lunch that would be okay without refrigeration for sometimes up to 40 hours. I don't mind to cook stuff before we go onto shift and "portion it out' for the shift, I just don't know what would last. I was thinking maybe some rice, and macaroni, but I'm not sure this stuff would be okay that long in a vehicle. Any input would be absolutely awesome! Thanks. :)

Answer
Oh boy....$800-900 /mo. on lunch alone...hmmm not good. I think my financial adviser would have a heart attack if he read that. Then, I'd be off the hook! haha Let's just shudder and think about it ...before we get to solving the problem...that is over $10,000 a year...just on lunches. Ok, you guys work hard for the money and you deserve better. That money has got to go into savings as an emergency fun or towards a long vacation. :) As much as I love, PB&J sandwiches...and I do...no one can eat those 24/7. So, here's a few ideas that come to mind. You might not be able to make your lunch everyday but if you can do a few things to start...you'll be heading in the right direction in no time. Even if you cut the "drive through" stops to just 3 times a week...that's a start.

So, let's start with "tools of the trade". These items are great for transporting/storing food. Some things might work better than others just use them by trial and error. I recognize you don't want to carry alot of stuff with you but a small cooler packed with just about everything you need can go a long way. I was a driver for an International Express Mail Delivery service. I had to make do alot until I wised up...put some energy into it and got it all set up.

-(reusable) Frozen water bottles (Just use regular small water bottles, freeze them and use them as your ice in a small cooler). As they melt, they are great for a quick after meal hand wash or just drink the water. Buy a six pack and put them all in the freezer to keep on hand. Just grab and go.
-Igloo ice chest (small) These are great and fairly compact.
-Reusable bamboo forks, knives & spoons
-2 durable cloth napkins
-Soft "compacting" ice chests-These are new on the markets and are designed to fold up when you are finished.
-"Thermos" (brand) product lines of hot & cold food/beverage storage.
Examples:
http://www.thermos.com/products/vacuum-insulated-24-oz-stainless-king-food-jar.aspx
http://www.thermos.com/products/element-5-lunch-lugger-cooler.aspx

Entrees:

-Tuna/Chicken Salad Stuffed Bellpeppers/Tomatoes:
Make your favorite tuna or chicken salad and stuff them in whole red bell pepper/tomato cups. (top is cut off & deseeded). Keep the little bell pepper/tomato "lids". Then, wrap the entire item in plastic wrap. No need for a bowl...the food is part of the storage system. Serve with celery/carrot sticks, crackers/crostini.

-Muffaletta Sandwich-This New Orleans "staple" can be made ahead of time with an entire wheel of bread (big or small), wrapped in plastic wrap tightly (so it compacts) and then at meal time it can be cut into wedges. Rather than type the recipe out (and there are many variations of it...so just find a favorite) here's a link. This sandwich is an entire meal. It can be high in calories so it's up to you how often you make it. But you can pick and choose other healthier ingredients if you want.

http://www.nolacuisine.com/2005/07/17/muffuletta-sandwich-recipe/

-Turkey Chili in a Bread Bowl-Again, this uses the food as part of the food serving/storage. So, you bring along your new Thermos of Turkey chili. Then, when meal time comes around you pull out small wheels of bread (or large dinner rolls) that have been prepped (top cut off, insides removed). Just fill the bread bowls with your warm chili. Bring along a baggie of shredded cheese and chopped onions. Note: Bread bowls & large (prebaked) potatoes work great with hearty stews, thick soups and even tuna/chicken salads. Lots of options here to work with.

Ok, that's it off the top of my head. Good luck to you and take care.

Can you bring food or water into the Disney and Universal Parks?

Star Dust

Answer
I've never had any problems bringing in water, cookies, trail mix, etc. They do search larger bags but it's not like a shakedown; they're mostly concerned with weapons or six-packs of Budweiser. :) The official policy for both parks:

"Guests are allowed to bring food items-such as snacks or foods that do not require heating-into any Walt Disney World Theme Park."

Universal---
"Acceptable items:
* Bottled water
* Small snacks that do not require heating
* Any food required for medical purposes and medicallyâindicated nutritional supplements
* Any food required for special dietary needs
* Baby food/baby formula
* Soft-sided insulated bags no larger than 8.5" wide x 6" high x 6" deep

Prohibited items:
* Picnic lunches
* Food that requires heating or refrigeration
* Alcohol and glass containers
* Hard-sided coolers
* Soft-sided coolers larger than 8.5" wide x 6" high x 6" deep
* Coolers, suitcases, and bags with wheels"

Why are Hasidic Jews so bigoted and why don't other Jews seem to care?

Honesty is

I've just come back from a few hours of browsing frumteens.com and am blown away by the bigoted attitudes expressed by not only the teens, but also by the rabbi moderator.

Just a few of the things I learned that many Hasidic Jews believe:

1. The world was created entirely for the sake of the Jews. Non-Jews are of trivial importance.

2. Non-Jews are not moral agents. They contribute nothing to the goodness or evil of the world in themselves. However, this doesn't seem to stop these same Jews from engaging in vicious tirades about "the goyim" and their "disgusting" behavior. (All non-Jews are lumped together.) They seem oblivious to the fact that the pop culture and media that promotes much of what they loathe is in fact populated by great numbers of secular Jews. Secular Jews are treated with kid gloves; they may do wrong, but they are merely misguided. The goyim are just plain wicked. (Perhaps Jeremiah is rolling in his grave...)

3. It is apparently an issur to praise non-Jews unless it is for self-serving purposes or can be rephrased as praise for Hashem.

4. The Hasidim regard Christianity as idolatry not only for Jews, but for non-Jews as well.

5. Non-Jews do not have the same soul that Jews do. They have something akin to an animal spirit with no ability to connect to Hashem.

What I'm wondering is how any significant community in modern America can take such things seriously and why the Hasidim are not called out on their attitudes more often by other Jews. If an organized group of non-Jews held these same attitudes toward Jews, every Jewish organization in America would be caterwauling. Instead we get silence. What gives?
A few quotes:

MODERATOR:

"When Hashem created the world, He knew that one day some time in the future, Goy so-and-so will be in danger, and that Yid so-and-so will be able to save him, and still He said not to save him because it is Shabbos. "

Answer
I lived in Israel among Jewish orthodox and ultra orthodox people, so I can speak of what I've seen, heard, and felt at their contact. I wanted to convert to Judaism at the time.
1) In Israel, it's the only country that I know that help the immigrant to settle in Israel: special supermarket with not VAT, money, etc. In the Western world, they are prejudiced against, and sometimes, assaulted or killed like in the UK or Ireland. Some are refused help even though they are assylum seekers! And the police escorts them back to the airport (France, Ireland, etc)

2) When I was robbed my luggage full with all my clothes in a bus going to Lod, and I told a friend who is a Hassidic Jewish lady(I forgot the name of their movement). She just came to her kitchen and took a full bag of clothes (new, not disgusting as you would see in the western world today!) and gave it to me. She was a friend but not my best friend and knew I was a goya (a Gentile).

3) When I was robbed of my wallet that contained my travel ticket, money, passport, I went to the Tourist Police to make my declaration of theft, the policeman who was Jewish gave me 20 Shekels and handed me a place for Jews to stay for free (for the week days, and 20 Shekels for the weekend). So I left went back to my hostel where I explained the situation, and they old me to forget about the money and tat I could stay longer if I wanted too, which I refused as I had another place to stay. I left and went to worship the G-d of Abraham, Its'hak and Yaakov as it was the beginning of Shabbath at the Kotel (wailing wall or western wall still standing that used to surround the ancient Temple). I sang and forgot about my troubles. G-d had pity on me and afterward, I met a man not far from it who sent me to a Jewish family (to eat in for the 3 meals at shabbath (Friday evening, Saturday Lunch and afternoon meal) I told the family I was a goya trying to convert and they were very nice, and helped me. They even gave a job as jeune-fille-au-pair.
I stayed in the Jewish hostel for 2 months, and then I had another Lubavich family that took me in exchange for helping the family.
I got back my wallet 3 weeks later with my ticket travel and passport! Nowhere in the world is welcoming is better than among the Ultra Orthodox Jews.
Conclusion: I have never received a warmer welcome than in Israel among the Jewish people be it orthodox or ultra orthodox. That's the only country in the world where the immigrant be it goy or Jew is welcomed instead of shunned.
So don't generalise check for yourself first!

I am fat at 15 and hate it. What can I do?

James B

Hiya.

My name is James and I am 15 and live in the UK.
I am 15 and weigh around 13 stone.
I look fat and jokingly get called fat at school. I laugh but it annoys me.
I dont know how many calories I eat in a day but I know they are over 2000. I want to stop eating and eat healthy but I have no self-determination. I dont eat breakfast because I cant eat that early in the morning so I snack during the morning. I dont have lunch because I eat something at 11 at school.

My day goes:

Bag of crisps
Chocolate bar
lucozade orange sport
samosa
iced bun
bag of crisps
chocolate bar
dinner
bowl of cereal
chocolate bar.

I have no self determination and I say to my self that I wont eat something but i always do. I cant make myself exercise because I am not determined enough to make myself do it.

What do I do?
Can I add I did ask for help not people to criticized.
Can you also not assum because I am fat I eat mc donalds when I dont.

Answer
Holy shit don't eat that stuff man. That is so bad like I can't even believe that is what you eat in a day. If you have no motivation, take it slow. You could stop eating chocolate bars for example, try to go as long as you can without one and if you do have to give in, don't have the whole thing. You'll get used to not having them and then you will crave them less and less. You have to find something that you can replace with all of those unhealthy things. Who ever is buying that for you needs to stop. Make a routine of when you're going to eat your meals, you seem like you need some structure. If you eat lunch at school at 11am, consider that your breakfast, try and eat every four hours or so. Also, don't laugh along with those stupid "jokes".

Energy management this summer?

cronaldo70

I need a list of what I can do this summer to help save energy and money this summer. Anyone?

Answer
Check that your windows and doors are sealed with caulk
Strategically plant bushes and trees to shade your home
Install ceiling or window fans
Keep blinds and window treatments closed during the heat of the day
Plan trips and errands in the most efficient manner possible
Buy local produce and buy items in bulk when they are on sale
Morph meals (ie use the main ingredients from one meal to make another later in the week)
Run only full loads in the dishwasher and laundry
Wash garments in cold water and air dry
Use the air dry function on the dishwasher
Use OPG (other people's gas - ask friends and family members to pick up items you may need on their way to or from where ever they are going whenever you know they HAVE to go out)
If you live in an area where it rains during the summer, collect the water and use it in the garden
Grow your own veggies and herbs
Drink tap water it is a lot cheaper than bottled
Brown bag lunches
Change incandescent light bulbs to energy efficient ones
Use a low flow shower heads and toilets
Blanket your hot water heater and insulate pipes
Reduce what you use - don't buy overpackaged items
Recycle or re-purpose items you would normally toss

How to prepare for vacation if you're diabetic with insulin needs?

Glitter La

Hi, I am a type 1 diabetic, and I use insulin to keep me from getting high blood sugar readings. I take injections of Humalog for meals three times a day, and Lantus one time a day before bed. Been type 1 diabetic for about 10 months now...I am planning to go on a vacation trip and stay for about three weeks? How should I prepare for the trip? I will be traveling in an airplane. What should I take? Can I take needles with me, or a doctor's note. I have medical insurance that covers my medicines, but I don't know how much supplies will I need to cover for three weeks? At the place I am traveling to, there might not be a cool place to store my insulin in, like a fridge... I might have to improvise with ice.... Big thanks!

Answer
When I go on vacation, if I figure I will need 2 full bottles, I take 5 half-full bottles, in case I drop and break (or lose) one. [I might even take 6 half bottles. - I am paranoid lol.] - Start recording your use of everything now so you can plan how much to take, then add 25% or so.

Never put your medicines in cargo luggage in case it gets delayed or lost. Insulin and needles go through security all of the time. It is not necessary, but I found an insulated nylon lunch bag with a reusable "ice" pack in it. You can also put extra of those man-made ice packs in the bag, if you are going a long distance, or in a hot country.

Ice in a bucket works will if you want to keep the insulin on ice. But put the insulin in its box in a plastic bag so that the insulin does not get near freezing.

>> You being type 1 will really need to pay attention to time zone changes, and changes in eating patterns and times. {My case is not as critical as yours because I am type 2.}

Have a good vacation!

What are some meals I can make for my husband who is an EMT for him to eat on the run?

Heather

My husband works as an EMT. He's not overweight, but his fast food eating is killing our budget. I understand it's hard to eat when your driving/riding in an ambulance. He often cannot take leftovers because there is no microwave so please take that into consideration when recommending something. He's a "man's man"and likes to eat so meal bars aren't an option. He's says he's tired of sandwiches.

Answer
before making anything, get to the store and invest in a decent set of thermos's for both foods and beverages(if needed) and a decent lunch bag or box. I got one that is insulated and has a domed lid that is also insulated and works great for my son and son in-law who both carry lunches.
If you get a thermos for hot foods(wide mouth lid) you can send almost anything in there. Stew, hot dishes, soups, layer a mashed potato, meat and gravy "bowl".(Like KFC!) Heat the inside of the thermos first with very hot water and then, dump that and add the hot food and it will stay hot for a very long time.
Same with the cold Thermos. Chill with ice water and dump and add cold pasta salads, cold chicken salad(add some palin bread and he can make a sandwich to go as he has time.) or ham salad, etc.
In the summer, when the guys carry mostly cold things, I put the whole insulated cooler into the freezer, with the cooler lid open so that it is very cold come morning and then they add thier cold things from the fridge that we prepared the night before and it stays safely cold all day. All you need to add then is one of those sealed "ice" packs and they have good safely chilled food all day.
You can send pudding, jello and fruit, yogurt containers, fresh veggies in a bag with some dip, fresh fruit, most anything you want.
The imporant thing is the proper equipment, thermos for hot and one for cold and insulated carrying cases. There are also bowls with lids that have a small container for dressing for a on a salad or dip for veggies, lots of ideas.
I always make extra supper and the guys take some of that for lunch the next day. If there isn't any left overs then it is sandwiches. As long as they change it up, they don't get bored.

How Can A 13 Year Old Girl Eat Healthier?

Olivia

I play on a travel softball team and I have practices on Tues, Thurs, Sat, and sometimes games on Sunday, as well as an hour long personal lesson on mondays. Clearly, I am out a LOT. Recently though, my eating habits have sunk down. I am a picky eater and I have a whole mouth of sweet teeth. My mom made the decision that I need to eat healthier and I agree with her. I need anything that will help (food, habits, motivation, etc) as well as an app to help me. (for iPhone). Thanks!

Answer
-Fruit of any kind is great on the go
-real kernel (not microwave) popcorn is great too. Just pop some in a pot with a loose lid, add a little salt, butter or shredded cheese and you have a delicious and nutritious snack! Just put some in a zip-lock bag and you're good to go.
-pretzels
-granola
-granola bars
-organic beef, buffalo, or turkey jerky for protien
-crackers with some peanut butter

If you don't already have an insulated lunch box that would be a great investment, then you have a much broader option of things you can bring along such as:
-carrot sticks with a little container of ranch for dipping
-hard boiled or even deviled eggs
-some fruit yogurt
-a meat and cheese sandwich, this can be made healthier by adding veggies such as lettuce, tomato, onions or peppers
- a pb&j sandwich
-some berries

always make sure you bring along BOTH protein and carbs. Both are needed, especially for you being so athletic.

Are insulated lunch containers really better for the environment?

Brenda

Yes, we've all heard the hype. Use reusable lunch pails, don't use paper bags, etc. etc. But what about the insulated lunch bags that get thrown out EVERY YEAR!! We need a new one every year. For at least two household members. And from the way the stores get stocked on Labor Day weekend, it's not just us.

So my question is - is the carbon footprint of a reusable, insulated lunch case really better than the carbon footprint for about 250 paper lunch bags? How can you figure this out?

Answer
I see a big problem in your statement. Why would you need a new one each year, I have 2 lunch boxes, one is a tupperware (not insulated) that I've had since the mid 80's, the other is an insulated one that I've had for 3 years and there is nothing wrong with it. I try to reduce the amount of plastic in my life, but this is one area that I think it is a better option. Perhaps you need to find a more durable solution or teach your family to care for things a little better. I see the same problem with backpacks, people want new each year and that has a huge impact on our resources. I buy quality so I buy a lot less often. I also didn't allow my kids to get sucked into the marketing trap of characters, very rarely are they popular with the children more than 1 year and often less than that.

I have a zero waste lunch kit, which means I also don't use disposable containers on the inside. If you are using the lunch bag for such a short time, it may be having a greater impact than paper bags.

Do PACK IT lunch bags really work?

Audrey Mon

I'm a mom of 3 and my kids are going to start a new school year. I want to find them a lunch bag that keeps cold and fresh. I was thinking about getting each of them a pack it lunch bag, but I'm not sure until i know if it works.

Answer
I've seen the ads and I have not really paid attention to them. If there is a30 day money back guarantee, or something like that, you could get one, try it and see if you think it's worth getting two more. When I was in high school, in the early 90s, reusable and insulated lunch bags were just coming out. When my husband was in seminary, about five years ago, I found a large one which I used for work. (It was on the community free table. I spent my days, for about three months, babysitting for another family and working in the office of a local church. I packed breakfast and lunch and if I donated plasma after work, a light snack and ate dinner at home.) We used it for my now three-year-old's food when she was a baby. We have a rectangle one that my pastor husband got as a Christmas appreciation gift from a local funeral home. (It also came with a six pack of Coke.) We use that one now for our seven-month's food. (We use the gel packs that came with the formula solicitations at the hospital when my daughter was born. They're a good size and last awhile.)

When I saw the commercial pr the Pack It, I thought about how we had metal, and plastic lunch boxes and Thermoses and paper bags for lunches and we survived just fine. Yet, there might be something to the Pack It. I just haven't decided if it's worth $20. (I"ve even seen mini-coolers during back to school season, but never saw them marked down to get one for personal use.)

good diaper bag for multiple kids?

Jo

I am pregnant with number three and due in a couple of weeks. I am in need of a diaper bag thats large enough to carry things for 3 kids under 5 yrs of age. Durable, stylish and as I said large.
I am looking to spend NO MORE than 75 dollars on it.
If you have ANY suggestions please let me know! Thanks!

Answer
When I had two in diapers I didn't get a diaper bag at all. I got a Satchel bag the kind ppl carry computers in. It was rectangular and fit the diaper and bottle carrying bag easily it also had several pockets for all my mommy needs. It had an adjustable strap so i could wear it on my shoulder so i could hold the car seat in one hand and my toddlers hand. It was cheaper then any large diaper bag I could find about 25 bucks at target and more adult/ stylish. I used it as my purse and baby bag so when I wasn't with the kids I didn't look like I was carrying around a child's bag. It also was very easy to wash. Also i used a generic insulated lunch sack for bottles that was about $4.00 rather then the very over priced bottle carries. Good luck and congrats.

What to pack for lunch for a vegetarian?

ColossusSh

Hai! I guess you could say I'm a fairly picky eater, but not too picky. I am a vegetarian and it's hard for me to come up with lunch ideas. I hate pb and j's and I don't want anything that will smell or rot if left in my bag for a few hours. I'm tired of salads and I have a sweet tooth! I also like chips, but those are really unhealthy and I want a lunch that won't leave me feeling sick. Any ideas? Thank you!

Answer
get some tofu, flavor it with some Worcestershire sauce, add some mozzarella cheese with some parsley, oregano and what have you. put it on a panini bread and grill it on a george foreman grill or toast it in the oven for a few minutes on each side or until you feel its ready. go to an international food store and buy some or-chata (basically a rice powder with sugar) and bring some cold milk in a thermos to mix it with for a creamy sweet drink. then make your own trail mix by getting some peanuts, cashews and almonds wet, sprinkleing a little raw sugar, some salts, and a little cinnimon over them. or you can get creative, and experiment with different flavors. (you can go spicy sprinkle some lemon juice and some chili powder) roast them in the oven until the water has evaporated completely. if you go with the sweet tooth idea add your favorite bite sized candy. m&ms would probably make the most sense. or if you go with the tangy spicy idea i would add some wasabi beans. cut up some apples, and some pears and put them in a small pyrex pan. pour a cooking oil of choice over it, (i would not suggest olive oil, maybe vegetable oil, or something along those lines) add sugar, cinnimon and a little bit of salt, (just to break up the flavors) put the pan in the oven for about 10 to 15 minutes. (the smaller you cut up the fruit the less time it will take to soften up) or until your desired softness. pack it all up in a well insulated lunch bag/ container and your ready to go. its a bit of work but it will be worth it the next day!!!! and just be creative,go to cooking websites and look at recipes that sound good to you.

Answer
1. You won't have a lot of homework. Or if you do, it won't be difficult because you haven't got into the cirriculum. If you really don't want to stress that night, then just forget homework and copy the next morning. That's pretty much what I did every single day and I still got a gpa of 4.375.
2. You really won't have ANY time to use your locker unless you have gym (becuase no one is every on time to gym), lunch, or its the begining or end of the day. That might sound kinda of weird to lugg all your stuff around all day but It's really not that much. Plus, even if you really did have time to go to your locker im pretty sure you would rather chat with friends, flirt with guys, or cram for a quiz/test.
3. Some people do carry insulated lunchboxes. It's nothing embarassing. Nobody's paying attention enough to notice what you carry your lunch in except your close friends. And they wouldn't say anything to hurt your feelings.
4. YOU WILL NOT GET LOST!!! unless you do it on purpose. It's to easy to figure out where your class is as long as you know where all the halls are at. The only classes you might get lost looking for are classes that aren't in the main hallways, like dance, theater, gym, and any class in trailers.
5. You really don't need to go all out on school suppllies. High school teachers could care less about where you keep your classwork (Except for a few exceptions) . Just make sure you have at least one folder, paper, a pen, and a plastic sleeve to keep all the stuff that you can't afford to wrinkle. Binder's are too bulky to cary around so don't bother unless your teacher requires it. Same goes for accordian files. Backpacks can get annoying to carry, clash with most outfits, and are only useful for carrying projects or gym clothes.
6.You wait till 4 hours after you've posted the question then the option will apear :]
7. Book covers are totally USELESS. But some teachers do require it or give extra credit for having it. In that case, make sure to get extra large covers because I have yet to see a textbook that can fit in the regular ones.
8. Honestly, I think every girl needs to have at least foundation ( too even your skintone) and mascara (to bring out your eyes) because without it, people just look plain. Even though you have glasses, Mascara(pitch black) will still look nice. Just make sure you know how to use it. And make sure your foundation matches your skin color well (don't be cheap on the foundation because cheap ones do no work). Using makeup appropriatley and lightly makes a girl look classy, professional, and girly.

HOPE I HELPED! and good luck
freshman year is really exciting. It will go by in a flash so enjoy it!!!! its your time to have fun and be immature, in other words, act like a freshman ^.^

Does the Packit work?

Tyra

So I'm going to get the packet but i have a couple of questions first. 1 does it really work like it says it does. and 2 the buy one get one free offer, are they both the same size? Please I really need help especially number 2!!

Answer
There are a few disadvantages to using PackIt lunch bags and a practical one amongst them is the fact that it doesnât have a provision for putting labels on them. How can you write your child and teacherâs name on it then? On the other hand, the gel packs start sweating as they begin to defrost. Hence itâs useless to try and pack napkins with your childâs lunch because they will get wet and soggy before use.

According to some customers the food didnât stay cool for more than 3 hours, which was hugely disappointing. Cold yoghurts go warm and salads begin to wilt; there goes your idea of a cool healthy lunch. You are better off opting for the regular insulated bags, which can be used with ice pack to greater effect. And itâs a lot cheaper option as well. PackIt is certainly not worth its price, especially when you have a cheaper alternative that does the job better.

And then thereâs the Velcro Issue to deal with. Kids will naturally hold the bags by the top handle, but what happens because of that is the Velcro tends to come apart. Itâs just not strong enough and whatâs worse is it cannot be sewn back because you will end up damaging the gel pack thatâs under the fabric.

Lunch Bags Get Wet:
PackIt on the whole seems a good idea but lacks in execution. It doesnât keep food cool for 10 hours for starters. To make matters worse, the bags get wet from the inside when the freezer pack starts defrosting. Thatâs a strict no-no.

PackIt doesnât work for 10 hours as claimed:
You are told that PackIt keeps your food cool for 10 hours at refrigerator temperature, but thatâs not the case at all. You will manage to keep food cool for about 5-6 hours at a sort of low cool temperature. Itâs absolutely unsuitable for milk and other dairy products, which will not last.

PackIt Alternatives
Getting a MNT lunch bag is a much better idea. You can use it brilliantly with two ice packs. It will keep food, including juices and milk cool for a good ten hours and itâs a lot cheaper option as well. You can buy them at Amazon.com
