What is high school like for an incomimg freshman?

I'm a little nervous for some reason but I don't know why. I was sort of at the top in middle school. I was nice and talked to everybody so I was known by almost everyone. I wouldn't consider myself "popular" though. I know high school will be different so do you have any tips for freshman and for my next 4 years in high school?

1. Say hi to the person sitting next to you in each of your classes.
2. Go in with a positive attitude
3. Get to know your teacher's school emails so you can submit papers, ask questions etc.
4. Don't be embarrassed or afraid to raise your hand to ask questions.
5. If you fall behind make sure you get help right away because then you will fall so far behind you'll have a hard time getting back on track.
6. Buy a whiteboard/ cork-board for your room or one of those wipe off wall stickers, and write down the due dates of assignments, long term projects, extended homework, group work, trips anything important.
7. Buy a mini whiteboard for your locker or a few magnets and write down the same things.
8. If you have no one to sit with at lunch sit alone, someone will come over to you :)
9. Get the phone number of someone in each of your classes for homework etc.
10. Take notes.
11. Keep your notes organized!!!!

12. You don't need a boyfriend to make you happy.
13. Don't ever lose a friend over a boy.
14. Getting into fights is not cute
15. Be assertive not to nice, not to mean.
16. Don't let people tale advantage of you.
17. If you happen to go out with an upperclassmen be careful. If a senior is after you they usually do want one thing. Now this doesn't mean that you have to stay away because there are very nice guys too.
18. You are not in love with someone after a month.
19. Juniors and seniors will leave you alone for the most part, sophomores are a different story.
20. Never go to a party alone. EVER
21. Unless you can drive don't have a friend suggest driving you to and from somewhere unless you know 100% there is a designated driver or your friend will not drink. ( yes high school parties have drinking)
22. Don't do drugs
23. Surround yourself with positive people
24. Join clubs, teams and things you like because you like it not to fit in.
25. Always make time for friends
26. Even best friends let secrets go, be mindful of what you tell who.
27. Don't listen to or spread rumors. Your eyes are the witness of the truth
28. If you have a problem talk it out. Tell your friend but ideally find an adult whom you trust completely to talk you through what's wrong.
29. Having a relationship with your parents is important.
30. Someone, somewhere will have a problem with you. Be the bigger person and ignore it.
31. Don't start drama, high schools more fun that way.
32. Girls can be mean.
33. Have pride, and dignity in yourself.
34. The girls that are sluts and get all the attention usually have self esteem issues.
35. People get pregnant, things happen, so protect yourself and never abandon a friend who is going through this.

36. Keep an extra notebook folder.
37. Keep extra pads/ tampons
38. Pens, pencils ALWAYS get lost keep a lot.
39. Keep extra money
40. Little bottles of : gel, water, lotion etc.

43. Keep an extra change of clothes in case of accidental wetting, accidents etc.
44. Keep some snacks in a baggie or a small bin thing ( my friend had a tiny one to keep out bugs)

51. Keep a pair of old shoes in your gym locker so you never have to worry about bringing them home

70. NOT PASSING GYM CAN PREVENT YOU FROM GRADUATING WITH YOUR CLASS!!!!

What is the best backpack for a junior in high school?

I am a high school student in search of the perfect backpack. HELP! I do not like my one-over-the-shoulder-bag. It causes back and shoulder-blade pain. I need some advice!!

I'd like the backpack to fit these requirements:

-Not to bulky or mountain-climber-looking
-Support in back area. Comfy, not hard on shoulders or back
-Big enough to hold, spirals, expandable folder, pencil case, lunch box, etc.
-Make it cute! I prefer blue :) (Nothing to flashy)

How can I lose weight in about a month or so?

I'm a 13 year old girl I'm 5'4 and I weigh 133 pounds. I don't know if I'm over weight or not. I eat very healthy (meats, veggies, fruits) and I drink plenty of water every day. I just want to get a flat stomach and smaller thighs. I don't want to be a bag of bones because honestly I've tried to starve myself but it never worked. I usually skip lunch because I'm not hungry but then I just have 1-2 crackers most of the time.. Also how come whenever I eat dinner I feel like I have to throw up for about 15 minutes then that feeling is gone and I'm fine. It's weird. Please help. I would like to loose about 10 or 15 pounds. And fast. Thank you! :)

I'm 14 years old, a girl. Pretty tall, 5'11 and I'm 120 pounds. I don't often weigh myself, and this weight REALLY shocked me. I'm pretty active, I run every day (I'm on the track team) for about 3 hours. On Saturdays, I have swim practice for an hour and on Sundays, I run about 3 to 3 and a half miles with my dad.
I actually eat a lot. My breakfast is usually a Hot Pocket, since I need something quick and easy make. My lunch at school is pretty unhealthy, a cheese pizza, French fries, chicken nuggets, whatever's on the menu. Then I have a bag of popcorn as a small snack. If I don't get a chance to get lunch, I get a bag of chips. Very rarely after track practice, I get another bag of chips, but VERY rarely. When I get home, SOMETIMES I eat a small snack, like a few hot Cheetos or some Pringles before I head to take a shower. After my shower is usually dinner. Then, I start to get hungry around 10. So, I sit down and watch TV and eat snacks until about 11, but this doesn't happen EVERY DAY.
I'm quitting track in my sophomore year in order to join Raiders for the US Army JROTC program. They do intense workouts, like push-ups, sit-ups, rope bridge, team runs, individual 5k, etc. they're a pretty physically active team.
So, point is, how can I lose weight without drastically changing my eating habits? Any advice would be great!

I too am 5'11 and at 120 you do not need to lose weight you actually bhaveba low weight for your height losing weight would be too skinny for your frame and you couldn't keep up with ROTC I can figure out why you would lose weight already being underweight rule of thumb is 100 lbs for 5 feet and 5lbs for every inch so in actuality the mid point is 155 though at 5'11 depending on build a weight range would be 138-165 check BMI charts ...so a well balanced diet would make you less likely to be hungry monitoring your carbs not being excessive protein should be half your weight in grams, thus if you weigh 120 you need a minimum of 60 grams of protein and so on...but truthfully you need at least 15 pounds on you as an active person...so if your doing carbs as you are complex ones will make you less healthy like brown rice and grains, eat more protein fish chicken is healthier...but your question is mystifying as you are not overweight and the last thing you should do is lose weight your knocking on the door of anorexia if you are consumed with losing...see a doc they will have a good diet plan....you can eat what you want as long as balanced and suger also raises hunger..but truthfully stay away from diets and eat more and decrease junk food will be your demise eventually you are lacking nutrition and your body will fail you...get to a doctor I am truly afraid your underweight and you are not seeing it and if not you actually have a serious eating disorder good luck
