Lunch ideas for mothers day out?

mommy2ange

My 21 month old is the starting mothers day out program at our church 2 half days per week. She is there during lunchtime so I will need to pack her a lunch. The program is pretty strict on what the kids can and can't bring. The rules are:
1. The lunch must be packed in a 3 section divided dish. No lunch boxes or lunch bags or thermoses. (so that means no ice packs to keep food cold)
2. The food must not require refrigeration or heating
3. The food must be finger foods that the child can eat independently
4. No grapes even if they are sliced and peeled
5. peanut butter is allowed since no one in her class is allergic
6. No junk food (cake, candy, cookies, etc.)

Other than PBJ what on earth am I supposed to send her? Obviously meat, eggs, and pasta salads made with mayo are out. She will not eat raw veggies or apples, but other than that she is not picky. Please give me some healthy ideas!

Answer
well that's tricky. i had to deal with packing lunches like that too. Maybe you should try granola some kids like that. i know you said she doesn't like raw apples but what about apple sauce? probably not but you dont need to keep that cold. try lots of dry foods with grains so they are healthy for example triscuits and other crackers like the butterfly ones. its hard because most kid food need both cooling and heating. you possibly get away with gogert if you freeze it so it says cold by its self while thawing depending on how long its out. hope i helped a tad and good luck!
