DesiLovesH

My son is going to turn five in about a month..
I need party ideas..
There will probably be at least 20 kids there..
This year he wants to have a big party and i want to plan ahead.

Answer
My son just turned 5, 10 days ago!
He didn't have a big party, just friends and family over for afternoon tea this time. I have done tons of kids birthday parties already though!
He wanted a pirate island cake so I made him that.....he is a picture

For 20 kids you could play no more than 3 games. I would keep the party to a 2 hour limit.
10am-12pm or 2-4pm is a good time for kids parties.

''Pass the parcel'' is a standard and much loved party game. It can be played by a wide age-range of children. Make sure to place a chocolate frog, wrapped lolly or small toy in each layer so each child gets something and a small 'prize' at the end

Candy/Lolly hunt. When the kids are occupied with pass the parcel have some inconspicuously go around the yard and hide lollies/candies. (make sure they are wrapped candies so the ants don't get them!) Then place a basket in the middle of the yard and give the kids instructions that they must find a lolly, bring it back to the basket and then go looking again till they are all found. When they are all found the lollies get distributed evenly amongst the children so the older ones who are quick don't get all the lollies and the littlies who are slow get none.

Pin the tale on the donkey/pin the hat on pirate/pin the web on spiderman - the options are endless and can be changed to suit your theme

I would get him to pick a 'theme' like spideman, pirates, dinosaurs or whatever he wants. Then look on ebay or go to a party store and get disposable plates, cups, party hats, invitations, party favour bags etc...in his chosen theme.
That makes it very easy to decorate, just lay it all out and hang some balloons!

Food is easy for kids...

Mini sausage rolls
mini party pies
chips
lollies
cheerios/mini franfurts & ketchup
fairy sprinkles bread (100's & 1000's)

*fruit kebabs (my kids love these. Take a red fruit, green fruit and an orange fruit like strawberries, apple and orange and thread them onto bamboo skewers to make traffic light fruit kebabs)
sandwiches - make them mixed...chicken and mayo, ham and tomato, tuna, peanut butter

*mini quiches

*pizza pin wheels - using puff pastry spread some tomato paste out, then top with a small amount of cheese, ham and pineapple. Roll up into a log shape, cut into 1cm thick 'pin wheels' and bake in the oven for 10 minutes. Even taste nice cold!

If the party is over lunch time you could always have a simple sausage sizzle as well which everyone likes and it so easy

Make sure to get your invitations out 3 weeks before hand and make the RSVP date at least 5 days before the party so you have room for people who ring late to rsvp but still enough time to go shopping for the correct amount of food.

OR your other option is to ring mcdonalds or other venues that host childrens birthday parties with everything included and then you don't have to organise anything except the invitations and hand over the money at the end!
There are childrens into playgyms here in australia that host great kids parties
