How to keep tomatoes fresh?

I'm going to start bringing my lunch to school. I was thinking what if I made a sandwich or a salad will the sliced tomatoes go bad. I would slice them in school but we are not aloud to bring knives or plastic knives. What can I do? Also will hard boiled eggs stay good.

I never put whole tomatoes in the refrigerator because it ruins the flavor and they stay good for close to a week. If I know I will be using a cut tomato within a day, I wrap it plastic and leave on the counter. Longer than that, the cut tomato or sliced go in the freezer to be used in a recipe. Slice your tomatoes at home, wrap them in plastic wrap or put them in a small container, then put the tomato slices on your sandwich before your eat it. You hard boiled eggs sandwich or whole hard boiled will also be perfectly safe to eat. Of course if you live somewhere where the temperatures are in the 90s, you might consider using an insulated bag if it take you a while to walk to school or your school is not air conditioned.
