I know it will cost me about $1,000 just for a round trip economy ticket. I will stay around a week to two weeks, not really sure yet! What other fees will I need to save up for? And any other tips for a first time flier is greatly appreciated!

Answer
You have a very open question, so here goes my Speech to first time travelers.

For the plane, bring hard candy to suck on. It helps with the change of pressure and your ears. Also, bring in ear head phones (they won't bother the other passengers) and a fully charged MP3 player. If you have a Nook or iPad, bring it, but expect the batter to run out LONG before the flight ends. After you have been on the plane for a few hours try to sleep. I have taken the flight a lot and its pretty good.

Also, if you are booking through Orbits, Travelosity, or whatever, you may want to Create a Mypoints account. If you go to the travel sight and book through your MyPoints.com account you will get enough points for a gift card and still get the same great prices. I have been using them for 15 years now.

Site seeing. London is wonderful. If you plan on staying in London consider the london pass. http://www.londonpass.com/?aid=17&gclid=CPyg-8mlhq8CFcoZQgodaEvi-A

Also, go to http://www.ricksteves.com/news/audio-tours.htm and download free walking tours. They are great and you can always pause them if you feet get tired and you want to chill.

Food costs, will all depend on where you eat. I highly recommend eating on the cheap. I find that packing picnics and eating in parks makes for better people watching than a cafe and costs 1/3 the money. Still you should plan for 1-2 nice meals and 2-3 fast food meals. Look at what you eat now and increase it by 15%.

Perfect picnic, 1/3lbs grapes, roast beef sandwich, and pasta salid with bottled water or iced coffee. It will keep you healthy and energized for all the walking you will do. Plus if you leave your hotel at 8am and get hungry by 10, you can eat the grapes.

Packing. Pack LITE!!! Do not pack everything. Do make a list! My recommendations are as follows (including what you wear there):
Hair Brush
Tooth brush
Deodorant
Travel sized personal care everything else
Dollar store size first aid kit
2 pair pants
2 shirts
1 swim suit
1 jacket with hood (UK weather is unpredictable)
1 long sleave shirt
2 tank tops
1 sleeping whatever
2 pair shoes (easy on the feet)
5 pair socks
4 pair under garments
MP3 player (cords and ear phones)
Sunglasses (cheap)
Sunscreen (purchased after you get there)
Woolite (purchased after you get there-to wash cloths in hotel sink-it works)
Good lunch bag
Blue ice (purchased after you get there-air port security issues)
Mess kit or lunch kit (what ever you normally use)
A day pack or large purse size backpack.
Cell phone & charger (contact carrier a month before your trip)
Extra memory stick and Camera
Pen and journal (always the best souvenir)
Money belt (I recommend Rick Steves - it does not itch)

Hotel prices vay dramatically. For cheap try http://www.yha.org.uk/ or hostelworld.com . Other than that try Hotels.com (again go through mypoints). Prices are as little as $78/day to $388/day. B&Bs are also great in the UK. Do Little homework and enjoy!

What is a healthy, filling lunch I can take to school?

Annie

I take my lunch to school every day, but tomorrow I have school cheerleading immediately after school, then I have to go straight from school cheer to another cheer practice, then I have to go straight from that practice to church, which gets over at 8. Soooo I have to get a filling and nutritious lunch. I take my lunch in a brown paper bag so It can't be anything cold or hot....please help with any suggestions???? Thanks! :)

Answer
Healthy chicken mixed in pasta. Just keep it fresh by keeping it in a container. You can buy tubs of these in Tesco, Sainsbury's(in UK) or other local supermarkets. Also take a piece of fruit that won't get too messy like an apple or pear. Hope I helped ðð
