Energy management this summer?

cronaldo70

I need a list of what I can do this summer to help save energy and money this summer. Anyone?

Answer
Check that your windows and doors are sealed with caulk
Strategically plant bushes and trees to shade your home
Install ceiling or window fans
Keep blinds and window treatments closed during the heat of the day
Plan trips and errands in the most efficient manner possible
Buy local produce and buy items in bulk when they are on sale
Morph meals (ie use the main ingredients from one meal to make another later in the week)
Run only full loads in the dishwasher and laundry
Wash garments in cold water and air dry
Use the air dry function on the dishwasher
Use OPG (other people's gas - ask friends and family members to pick up items you may need on their way to or from where ever they are going whenever you know they HAVE to go out)
If you live in an area where it rains during the summer, collect the water and use it in the garden
Grow your own veggies and herbs
Drink tap water it is a lot cheaper than bottled
Brown bag lunches
Change incandescent light bulbs to energy efficient ones
Use a low flow shower heads and toilets
Blanket your hot water heater and insulate pipes
Reduce what you use - don't buy overpackaged items
Recycle or re-purpose items you would normally toss
