Thanks in advance!(: and are blackberries bad for you?

Answer
That's a good question. Presuming you don't want the cafeteria offerings, the vending machines, yet, wish to be full. What most people do is to make a sandwich, like a deli turkey on wheat bread with lettuce and mayo. I have seen a young lady with sprouts in a pita, and somehow, this wouldn't do it for me. In addition, a piece of fruit, and a side dish, also from the deli, like carrot salad. You could bring some nuts and an apple, for example. You could bring macaroni salad. Blackberries and all other berries are very healthy with micro-nutrients and anti oxidants. However, they must be well washed and kept cool. How to do that is to use those freezer packs in an insulated lunch sack. If you eat within a few hours, you sandwich will be safe. If it is going to go longer, just put bologna on bread with mustard. That won't spoil, or take boiled eggs, unpeeled. They don't spoil easily either. This is the type of thing I did, and I was and am healthy. I can't stand being away from home, yet hungry. I don't like to purchase items from vending machines, not knowing how long they were stored away in a facility, and what ran around them in the evening. If you want to keep the lettuce fresh, wrap it in paper toweling and put into a sandwich bag. Place in your sandwich before eating. For a beverage, I would just drink water. I don't purchase soda ever. Some people make soup and keep in a thermos. My luck keeping those thermoses from breaking is zero.

I tend to waste lot of money on vending machine and gas station and coffee shop.?

something

When I am studying on campus and I feel hungry. I waste money on vending machines, coffee shops and stuff. How can I change that? I just calculated that combined together its lot of money!!!

Answer
If you're studying, you probably have some sort of bag or backpack, so start packing in your snacks and possibly drinks. To start out with, just get a big honking bag of chips (potato or tortilla chips) and a box of zipseal bags. Put the chips in the bags, and you've just saved most of the cost of vending machine chips. You can also do this with popcorn, either stuff you pop yourself, or the kind that comes already popped. You might want to buy a bag of the already popped popcorn and share it (and the cost of it) with a friend or two. For something a bit more advanced, get some crackers and peanut butter. Make sandwiches out of this, and again put in baggies. This will really give you some energy to keep going. By the way, almost any sort of cracker works. I was amazed to find that peanut butter and graham crackers go very well together. You can go so far as to get an insulated lunchbox or mini cooler, and use the blue ice thingies to keep things cold, if you have access to a freezer for the blue ice thingy. This is a good way to save money on sodas. Soda pop is much less expensive if you buy it in six or twelve packs, as opposed to buying single cans or bottles from a machine. If you have a coffeepot, and you like to drink coffee, then get a thermos for drinks and you will save LOTS of money on coffee. TONS of money. You will have to wash the thermos out every day, though.

If you don't have a school meal plan, then consider packing your lunch, too. This is much healthier than vending machine or coffee shop meals, and so much cheaper that you won't know what to do with all the money you save. While you will have a somewhat more limited menu, you can decide to pack a lunch on most days, and then buy lunch at the coffee shop once or twice a week. This way, you can save money, but you can still have the option of going to the coffee shop and hanging out.

Remember, you are trading time and money for convenience. It takes a little more time and forethought to pack a couple of bags of chips or other snacks in your bag each day, but you will save a lot of money. Or you can trade a lot of money for the ease and convenience of just going to the machines and dropping your money in. You have to decide what your time is worth, and whether the vending machine and coffee house snacks are worth the money you pour into them.
